In the early 1900s, Lizzie Murphy played baseball at a time when most girls didn’t. She eventually landed a spot on a professional team and fought to earn the same wage as the male players. Author’s Note, Sources. This is a non-fiction book about a girl who showed true grit and determination. Although the front illustration and title gives some hints to the outcome, it doesn't reveal the journey that Lizzie took. This story is great for synthesizing because it gives students the chance to make predictions and gives plenty of opportunities for change along the way. Lizzie Murphy was a professional baseball player in the early 1900's. This biography allows students to reflect on how she stepped out of society's norm to become who and what she wanted to be. The illustrations allow students to view what life was like in the 1900's. When Lizzie stood up for equal pay for equal work, students were quick to get involved in a discussion. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
