I am quite disappointed in this book. It's not bad, but it's also not as amazing as I think it should be. I'd really expect home-cooked with good ingredients to outshine restaurant food, and that isn't happening for me here.

The spiced butter (well, oil, but I did actually make ghee) smells and is delicious. The actual recipes I've made... well, not so much. They're fine, but they aren't inspired. After having lofty expectations and spending time hunting for some special spices, I'm particularly disappointed. This book isn't bad -- and I am glad to have an Ethiopian cookbook on the shelf -- it just doesn't live up to my hopes and dreams. ( )
