Its a sweet story about a broken woman (you'll find out what happened to her) who becomes mended by twin 6 year olds and she, in return helps them. It also involved the parents of the kids, her friends etc. etc. but the heart of the story is the relationship with Kendra, Summer and Jaxon. Its a quick read (despite its length) and a sweet book but its not one that I will think about again. ( ) Kendra is the narrator of this book. She's a young woman recently returned from Australia to the UK, after a romantic problem. She has found a quiet studio apartment and hopes to be anonymous for a while... but finds herself rapidly embroiled in the chaotic and emotive life of her landlord and his twin six-year-olds. The characterisation was very good, and I found myself particularly drawn to the twins, bright and loyal children who have suffered through their parents' separation - and more, as becomes evident through the book - and who take a sudden and unexplained liking to Kendra. There's perhaps a touch of the melodramatic in this novel. There's a prologue which slightly confused me (since I didn't know when it happened in time) and which actually gave me more clues than I wanted about the rest of the book. There are unexplained stresses in Kendra's life, with hints given... and yet, by the time she finally writes down the history of what caused her to feel as she does, there was nothing new: the whole had been revealed already by flashbacks, asides, and intelligent guesses on the part of other characters. There's not a whole lot of plot in the present - the novel relies on the gradual unfolding of the past, not just for Kendra but also for her landlord and his wife, and (to a lesser degree) her boss. But if you like warm, character-driven novels with likeable people and good interactions, I'd recommend this highly. Almost four and a half stars. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
When Kendra Tamale returns to England from Australia, she rents a room from Kyle, a divorced father of two, and begins a new job. She's looking forward to a fresh start and simple life. Kyle's five-year-old twins have other ideas and quickly adopt Kendra as their new mother - mainly because she lets them eat marshmallows for breakfast. Kendra eventually becomes a part of their lives, even though she's hiding a painful secret that makes her keep everyone - especially children - at arm's length. Then Kendra bumps into the man who shares her awful secret, and everything falls apart. The only fix is to confess to the terrible mistake she made all those years ago. But that's something she swore never to do... No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
