Dr. Seuss has a lot of helpful and amusing advice for life, but this book which collects a variety of his quotes isn't particularly well done. I like the idea of gathering the best of Seuss together, but pulled out of their context a lot of the quotes seem to lose their meaning and impact. Much better to give readers each Seussical story on its own, along with their unique illustrations, so that readers can get the whole moral (or lack there of in a few cases) for themselves. ( )

When folks think about Dr. Seuss, the first thing that typically comes to mind are colorful images and fun, often newly-created creatures. The second thing that is just as important are his messages that many can recite one, two or more two from heart. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” and “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” are mine. This book provides some of the best quotes from his books presented on pages with art from the associated books and the theme/message/lesson. It’s a pleasure to re-read those that I knew and happy to see them included. It’s also a pleasure to read several from books that I’ve never read. The book starts and ends with quotes from “Oh, the Place You’ll Go!” which aligns with the books’ title. Definitely a buy for fans of Dr. Seuss. It’s also good for someone who wants to own only one Dr. Seuss book; all his best lessons are here. ( )

Review/critique: This was a fun book to read, it had many short bits from Dr. Seuss books which were titled differently in order to give advice. It was a fun read and it was very encouraging. It was a good poetry book b cause it showed among many elements of poetry it specifically showed rhyming which can be an essay way to introduce poetry.

This book is truly incredible. It takes your favorite poems from early childhood and reinvents them, if you will, into categories of topics older children may face, such has facing a hardship, asking for help, being a friend, and more. By taking excerpts of your favorite books from childhood and representing them into a specific situation, it allows children, and adults, to hold on to tidbits of advice from Dr. Seuss that before was just a familiar rhyme.
