Cunning. Sex. Pure nerve. Only this potent threesome can raise him

to his rightful place as ruler of Manhattan's kink kingdom.

Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side—handsomely paid in both bills and blackmail fodder—Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful and utterly debauched. No carnal act or chemical compound can relieve his self-destructive apathy—only Søren, the one person he loves without limit or regret. A man he can never have, but in whose hands Kingsley is reborn to attain even greater heights of sin. He plans to open the ultimate BDSM club: a dungeon playground for New York's A-list that'll change the scene forever.

The club becomes Kingsley's obsession—and he's enlisted some tough-as-nails help. His new assistant Sam is smart, secretive and totally immune to seduction (by men, at least). She and Kingsley make a wicked team. Still, their combined—and considerable—expertise in domination can't subdue the man who would kill their dream. The enigmatic Reverend Fuller won't rest until King's dream is destroyed. It's one man's sacred mission against another's....

I really am terrible at writing reviews, so I almost didn't write one, figuring I could never do this book justice with my words. I am just going to say that I am truly in awe of Tiffany Reisz and her ability to make me feel with her words. I love Kingsley and Soren. I wept and I laughed and I felt outraged, but most of all I felt the love that these two men had for each other that spanned decades and miles of separation. I will be waiting anxiously for the next book, I can not wait to read what Ms. Reisz has in store for us. ( )

While not as emotionally draining as The Saint, The King is utterly delicious.

Bear with me here... I'm having trouble gathering my thoughts on this book into something coherent. *grinning*

The King takes on Kingsley Edge before The 8Th Circle, and he is a very different man from the one we know.

He is emotionally fragile, very lonely and full of self-loathing. He sells his body to women he hates, drinks too much and only rare anonymous passionate encounters with tall, blond strangers give him temporary relief.

When Søren finds him again, he needs help battling his demons, and that's what his friend and ex-lover does. He brings that self-assured, cocky, irresistible Frenchman we love so much back to life.

The King is Kingsley's confession of how much of who and what he is now he owes to Søren.

I was surprised that the time span of The King is quite short. Maybe a year? Søren barely discovers Nora and asks Kingsley for help, and while there are a few tantalizing moments when Kingsley catches glimpses of Eleanor, they do not meet face to face, which makes me think that the next book is going to be absolutely amazing!

I also have to admire how seamlessly Miss Reisz weaves the moments from the previous books into the content of each new novel of the series. It's like every situation, every scene has multiple facets and they all play differently depending on who is telling the tale.

Another character that absolutely shines in this book is Sam. She becomes Kingsley's right hand and helps him fight against a religious right nut-job, Reverend Fuller, who is determined to rain fire and brimstone on sinners of New York.

Tiffany Reisz created an exquisite, sensual, emotionally honest tale about a king finding his kingdom. This was lovely, ladies and gents. I might just go and re-read it right now. Highly recommended.

Enjoyable, but the least favorite of the series so far.
Tells the story of Kingsley during the first year after Eleanor and Soren first met.
I had hoped there would be a good chapter on the workings of The 8th Circle club, but the story ends where Kingsley officially declares the club open.

Toward the end of the book there is a glaring spelling error, where 'through' is spelled as 'threw'. (They got threw it, or some similar sentence).
Elsewhere there are two instances where beta-reader's notes seem to have been left in the text.
(Last sentence: Someone took a ragged breath.
Ragged?
Text continues.
In the other case it's actually two full sentences that question the aptness of the previous sentences.) ( )

The King is second in The White Years Quartet, but 6th in The Original Sinners series overall. Author Tiffany Reisz focuses here on Kingsley Edge's character who is Soren's closest friend. I read The Siren first and became hooked onto this series, then I read The Saint and now my third read is The King. I recommend reading them in this order as well, because you need to read The Siren first especially to kick-start the books then these next two White Years installments really give plenty of background into these characters.

It is hard to review series books without rambling or giving too much away or sounding confusing to those who have not read the series, but I will say, this series does not let down.

I was eager to read about Kingsley Edge. He and Soren are more than just friends, there is love here. Also, here you get to see Soren telling Kingsley about Eleanor and having fallen in love with her.

This book shows how Kingsley started up his famous BDSM club and what he went through to get everything going. Kingsley has a dark past and that is also revealed here as are his tendencies for drugs and alcohol. He is your edgy, tortured hero but his soft side peeks through sometimes. Also in this book is Sam, a woman who Kingsley hires as his secretary and the two become fast friends. Let me say, without giving too much away, I love, love, loved their friendship and the way Kingsley falls for her even though he tries not to. I'm a sucker for that type of I want you, but can't have you, but will still pine for you romance especially when it unexpectedly comes from a tough as nails type guy.

While this installment was a fun read, it had a much more dark vibe to it and there weren't as many laughs as the previous books. I also found there was alot more sex here and it gets very dark at times because of Kingsley wanting to feel pain.

I want to read all in the series and this one gave plenty of insight into Kingsley and Soren's relationship, which was interesting. These two almost ended up together a long time ago and they are really bonded. These two are soul mates, there is no denying that.

"These were the words his soul needed...It was like drinking a single sip of the finest red wine and forever chasing that taste in every glass he raised to his lips."
p.250, The King by Tiffany Reisz

So, If you are looking for a sexy, edgy, well written series that pushes all boundaries, look no further than Tiffany Reisz's The Original Sinners books. You will be hooked in no time. ( )

Awesome book. Puts 50 Shades to shame and shows a more real side (though not totally realistic) side of BDSM. The only thing I did not enjoy was the last chapter/epilogue. It was totally off base and should have been saved for the next book in the series rather dumped on the end of this one. It tried to wrap up the lose ends of 350 pages in 10 pages. Not a good way to bring closure for your readers. Had it not been for the last chapter would have been a 5 star book! ( )
