Fiction. Suspense. Thriller. HTML:

When undercover fugitives are found in the suburbs, they must race against timeâ??and the FBIâ??to clear their names in this "superior page turner" (David Baldacci).

The Brightons are just an ordinary, small-town, law-abiding familyâ??until somebody else's mistake uncovers the truth. Jake and Carolyn Brighton are the FBI's two most wanted fugitives. Jake and Carolyn have lived a lie for fourteen years to protect themselves. But now they have to protect their thirteen-year-old son.

Their only chance is to return to the hellish scene of an unprecedented crime and collect the evidence that may finally set them free. But can they elude a massive manhunt long enough to get there?

"Gilstrap has ingeniously twisted his simple premise six ways from Sunday. Does for families what Nathan's Run did for preteensâ??puts them through endless rounds of entertainingly action-packed pursuit." â??Kirk

I saw this book and read it on the strength of the blurb. A fast-paced thriller which stands the test of time, it is penned in such a wonderful manner that it takes you on an emotional journey along with the main characters. There are not too many twists and turns, just a good plot and an enjoyable read. ( )

I think it was one of the readers of these pages that first turned me on to John Gilstrap. I really liked his first book, Nathan's Run, but this one may have to go on my top ten list for 2000. It is spectacular. Jake and Carolyn Brighton are the perfect small town couple. Until, that is, their small town finds out that these two are actually two of the FBI's most wanted fugitives. Their 'crime' was 14 years ago and their outing causes them to go back to the scene to prove their innocence. It is a fabulously crafted story and one who's ending kept me reading far too late last night. ( )

A real page turner of a thriller about a family on the run from the FBI for fourteen years after being wrongly accused of murdering environmental clean-up colleagues. ( )

Loved this book - a young couple get hired to do a job that ends up with the rest of the crew dead, and the young couple running for their lives. Passage of time, something goes wrong and they're on the run again, but this time they've got a child to protect. Should they try to find out who set them up the first time around? Suspenseful and dramatic. A very enjoyable read. ( )
