I wish I would have had this book to share with my child when we were dealing with this situation. The illustrations are so realistic it took my breath away (it showed exactly what a trip to a nursing home would look like). It gave me and my child a lot to talk about, especially different coping strategies for grief and sadness, and would have been a perfect way to talk about what we were dealing with after my grandfather's stroke. Talking about some fictional person's situation is easier than exploring the layers of our own emotional issues. I think this is an excellent book for young children (up to 6th grade, perhaps) who are dealing with a cherished family member or friend who is in a nursing home or rehabilitation center. ( ) This is a cute book about a grandmother who is in a nursing home and her family is coming to see her. Her grandson Timmy is worried about seeing her because she hasn't seen her since she fell and can't walk again. Timmy is scared she won't be the same any more. But when they get to the nursing home Timmy sees that she is the same Gram and still happy. They come to realize that Gram and Timmy's mom are not happy and want Gram to live with at home. The book is about a boy who is visiting his grandmother at a nursing home. She cannot walk and needs assistance. The boy talks about his journey and feelings through the home. He sees his grandmother and realizes she is still the same woman. He realizes how important family is and how much he loves her. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
