I've read them all more than once. She is and will continue to be one of my favorite authors. This was, unfortunately, a disappointment. Hey....they can't all be home runs! I was bored to tears until about 60% when Frankie's work situation kicked in. It took me forever to read this because I was pulling my hair out having to read Frankie's emotions over and over and over..... What happened to the kick ass Frankie who went to rescue Vi? Where was she??? This Frankie is an emotional basket case who can't take a piss without Benny!! I was so intrigued with Frankie and Benny during Cal and Vi's story. I was hoping to see Benny have to tame this wild woman but KA had other ideas on this. I wasn't feeling the love between them either.....it just wasn't grabbing me for some reason. I thought the best part of the book was reading about Cal and Vi getting blessed!! I do still love her epilogues that tie everything up! I'm certain I'll pre-order any and all future books but I feel my reviews should be my honest feelings....not dishonest crap because I want a FREE ARC read from KA next time. I have looked forward to reading this since I read about them in Cal & Vi's story. I was not disappointed. This one has less mystery and suspense and more about their relationship than the other books in this series. However, we have already had them involved in some deadly situations in Vi & Cal's story. This one picks up from the end of that book with Frankie (Francesca) in the hospital recovering from her GSW after surgery. I took off points for some repetitive thoughts. Other than that, the story flowed smooth and is very well written. You get to know both characters really well and the past they share. You also get to understand the family dynamics so much better. All the characters are brought to life and you can easily picture them as real people. There is a lot of joy, pain, love and anger dealt with. The suspense and mystery dealt with from about 3 quarters through to the end is well woven in. It added just enough to enhance the story without making it feel like it was thrown in to up the angst or add word count. The adult romance is very well done. There are sweet moments, funny moments, all the way up to 'Omg' fan me! I need a cold shower hot and steamy moments. All of this adds to the connection between Ben & Frankie. I loved it. As much as I love KA this one lacked chemistry. Something just didn't work. It's about forgiveness, redemption. Maybe it's the troupe, x2 brothers falling for the same girl, even if the one brother has now died, I'm not a fan of it. There are sparks of magic as with any, or should I say most, KA books. HEA. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine, that said Benny is in bed with another woman at the start when Frankie calls at his flat but there are no details. No cheating. References to characters from books earlier in the series and possible crossover from other book series by the author. Took a while, was the 2nd one where I didn't feel excited when reading it, now I'm talking adrenaline excited not, ahem, excited! What happened to being trapped underground or being hit with guns or shot (granted she was shot before the book started) but still, a little excitement would have been appreciated. Although, I want me a Gus and a Benny anyway 4.6 stars This aS different than I was expecting. It was done immediately after Val and Vi's story but before Tanner and Rocky and Mike and Dusty's stories. Even knowing some elements of those stories and timelines it didn't spoil anything. In fact, it seemed to enhance them. It added more to those stories. Benny wasn't as much the over the top alpha that the other guys were, he was just Benny and I loved him. His devotion and steadfastness was endearing and swoon worthy. He never stopped in his pursuit to make Frankie his. And Frankie needed that. That woman needed love and someone to have her back. She loved whole heartedly , no matter the cost to her, and was loyal to the tenth degree. Together, these two were unstoppable. I liked getting more insight into Val and Co in the future. I'm curious about Kate, considering her other half was not who I thought it was going to be, and also wanted to know more about Kierra and Jasper. There was an introduction of a Security team in this book that I need to go and research if I missed a series, and if so rectify that because I need to know more about Luke Stark. Highly recommend this book and series. I'm sad to know the last book will be the last one. I'm not ready for these characters to go away. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
