I really enjoyed this heartwarming holiday story about family and love :) This novel was a clean, feel-good book that moved quickly and was funny and touching. I definitely felt the Christmas spirit while reading this. There was even a passage that had me on the edge of my seat a bit! At first I was a little irritated by the (sometimes) hokey dialogue and writing style... But after a while I was able to overlook that and the characters really grew on me. I have never been to Nantucket, but the author's descriptions made it come to life for me. I do wish some of the recipes mentioned in this book had been included at the end. I received this book from NetGalley to review. ( )

This is a very funny yet interesting story about one family’s Christmas at Nantucket. Felicia and her fiancé Archie have come home to her parents’ house on the island for Christmas and will be married on Christmas Day in the small church nearby. In addition, her sister, Lauren, is also arriving with her husband and two young children in tow. Then there are the parents, Jilly and George, who are hosting everyone at the house. Jilly is a typical mother of the bride. George is a typical father of the bride and who desperately wants to show his son-in-law to be a good time as well as Nantucket. There are some very funny scenes in the book, well-done by the author. As I read the book, I was also transported to the island and their holiday traditions and celebrations. I found myself totally involved, eager to read the next few pages to see what would happen next, how things could easily go into a very humorous frenzy with little or no notice. This was a typical family, with typical events occurring with and to them. The author definitely knew how life can go from the mundane to the unexpectedly bizarre easily—making us all laugh at scenes so absurd there was little else to d but laugh. I think this may be the author’s best work yet. I know it is the book I have enjoyed the most. I also think it provides a good break for the normal holiday stories we find everywhere today. If you like Nancy Thayer, this is the book to read. If you like Skipping Christmas, and the storyline, this will be as enjoyable. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a good, easy going romance cum family novel. If I could give it more than five stars, I would have. I received this from NetGalley to read and review. ( )
