It is a great way to introduce glasses to children how they may get them and feel insecure at first but it is all okay in the end. I really enjoyed this book because I liked that it was different but had a strong message to it. I thought that this is something that I also thought of in school and that was nice to see how other people felt when people first get glasses. I really enjoyed the writing aspect of it because it was a simple read but it really had a good message to it. For example, I really liked that Rex got these new glasses and he tried to hide them instead of wearing them, fearing that people would make fun of him. For example, Rex tried to hide his glasses in his sandwich. The second thing that I really enjoyed about this was the illustrations about this book because you could see the glasses. I also liked that they made the glasses big and read and showed them because I could really see that Rex had a new look, and red makes a big statement. The big idea about this book is that glasses are cool and they are nothing to be ashamed about. I really enjoyed seeing Rex enjoying his glasses at the end of the book and how they actually helped him. Rex was able to see with his new glasses and stopped being ashamed of them. Specs for Rex is a story about a little boy who has to wear his new glasses to school. He does not like them and he spends the day trying to figure out ways to get rid of them. In the end, he discovers that they're actually useful and the other children in his class like them too! I like this book because it portrays a realistic situation that many children may have relate to. Kids can sometimes be mean to other kids who are different (like the kids who have "four eyes") but this book shows that just because someone is different, that doesn't mean that they are bad. At the end of the book, Rex's friend, Zoe, compliments him on his glasses and makes him feel better, "'I like your specs, Rex!' chirped Zoe. 'I'm going to ask mummy is I can have glasses too!'" This in turn, helps raise Rex's confidence and may help children who are reading this book, too. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
