The graphic novel adaptations of the #1 New York Times bestselling Wings of Fire series continue to set the world on fire!

Peace has come to Pyrrhia... for now.

The war between the tribes is finally over, and now the dragonets of the prophecy have a plan for lasting peace: Jade Mountain Academy, a school that will gather dragonets from all the tribes and teach them to live together, perhaps even as friends.

Moonwatcher isn't sure how she feels about school, however. Hidden in the rainforest for most of her life, the young NightWing has an awful secret. She can read minds, and even see the future. Living in a cave with dozens of other dragons is noisy, exhaustingâ??and dangerous.

In just a few days, Moon finds herself overwhelmed by her secret powers and bombarded by strange thoughts, including those of a mysterious dragon who might be a terrible enemy. And when someone starts attacking dragons within the academy, Moon has a choice to make: Stay hidden and safe? Or risk everything to save her new friends?

This series just doesn’t miss! The artist Holmes does a wonderful job differentiating the dragons and showing their expressions.

We see up close the blessing and curse being able to read minds actively looks likes. We also get an ominous vision (really it’s multiverse stuff – so many bad possible endings) and a whodunit all in one. I’m always so impressed by the narrative voice.

Similar to Lego animated series, there’s a tendency to want to underestimate the series as some ‘silly dragon’ book. But no, the level of intrigue, emotional beats, and plot twists pleasantly surprises you every time. ( )

This book starts a new storyline and so far it is good. Love the new character Moonwatcher.

It was exceptionally hard to read this without making comparisons to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. If you wondered what that book would be like if Ginny was the main character, but also a dragon, well, here you go.

Moon is a bit too perfect (all the boys are fascinated with her), but I still enjoyed her as a character. To my surprise, I really liked Kinkajou as well - I'd expected the ditzy routine to annoy the hell out of me. There's still the crazy violence - there's a literal murderder and terrorist at the school - but it wasn't as graphic as the previous books.

Darkstalker is a fascinating character and I can't wait to see what happens with him in later books - he's quite complex and seems to be set up as the next Big Bad after Queen Scarlet is dealt with.

Lastly, I was surprised to see that Sutherland included an LGBT dragon, Umber, one of Clay's brothers. Its a couple blink-and-you'll-miss-them lines, but I appreciated it. The other dragons aren't scandalized or anything - they treat it as just another normal thing (which it is). That's a step beyond Harry Potter - Rowling may have made Dumbledore gay but never had the courage to include that in the actual text. As we see here, it can be done in a natural, positive way. ( )

In this book, the Dragonets of Destiny start a school in the Jade Mountain. Moonwatcher, the main character, is a student and she has special abilities to read minds and see prophecies. Most nightwings do not possess these powers. The school is kind of like a Hogwarts for dragons. While Moon is trying to sleep she hears a voice in another dorm that is talking about killing another dragonet. She also starts hearing a voice in her head talking to her telepathically. While she's studying she has a vision of the history room exploding with all of her friends in it. She stops everyone from going in the room, it explodes, everyone wonders how she knew that was going to happen. She explains her power to her friends. Winter takes off after his sister because she is attempting to murder the Dragonets of Destiney. His friends follow, they seek help from Queen Glory of the Rainwings & Nightwings. She helps them, they stop Icicle and heal her.

This book brought on new twists and turns about each characters. The new characters brought in new challenges within the Wings of Fire world. I really enjoyed reading this book. My favorited character was Qibli. He is a very intelligent Sandwing dragon. He is analytical, almost like a Sherlock Holmes. He can figure out more about a dragon by looking at them than talking to them. I would highly recommend this book to my fellow classmates!! ( )
