( ) As a fellow twenty-something with elderly grandparents whom I love dearly, I connected well with Lucy's depiction of traveling with her grandparents whose memories aren't quite what they used to be. My own grand father has his good days and bad days when it comes to recognizing his own family and Lucy's story has really helped me to understand and accept that whether or not my face is familiar to my Poppy, he loves me through and through and that is one of the many reasons this is a 5 star review! Like An Age of License before it, Displacement features Lucy Knisley's unique illustrations and commentary on her adventure as a chaperon of sorts on her grandparents' seniors cruise of the Caribbean. Her illustrations perfectly capture the full range of emotions that she experiences from excitement for spending times with her grandparents to the despair she feels upon realizing how quickly we age and our memory deteriorates. Her astute observations resonate deeply in the soul of those who read her works and can relate to the circumstances and events she describes. I cannot recommend Displacement highly enough and I add it to my "Recommended Reading for Every Twenty-Something" list! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
