I enjoyed this story because I thought It was a great way for students to begin thinking about writing a fiction story. One day at the beginning of school there is a thunderstorm and it is too dark to read. Miss Brooks then suggest that the students tell a story and says "good readers make wonderful storytellers". Missy, the main character, gets bullied by a little boy almost every morning and decides to tell a fictional story about a snake that would scare her bully. I like how there is an emphasis on plot and creating an ending which is why I think this would be a good introduction to writing a fiction story. I do not like how the made up story is centered around scaring another child however I did adore the ending when Missy tells her bully the story and he loves it. ( ) Ms. B recommended Missy loves reading books now, and shows up to school early for Story Nook every day...but one morning, the power goes out, and Miss Brooks decides they will make up stories instead of reading them. Missy doesn't love this idea, but Miss Brooks convinces her: "Good reads make wonderful storytellers....Everyone has a tale to tell....One way to begin is to think of a problem that needs solving." So Missy makes up a story about obnoxious Billy Toomey, who plagues her walk to school in the morning. She tells him her story, and reports that "He loved it!" Missy has a problem with the kid next door, he is always bullying her and taking her hat. One day Missy has to create a story for her story nook in Miss Brooks class. This story that Missy creates helps her defeat the bully in real life. It is a cute story that teaches children that it isn't nice to bully people and standing up for oneself . It also teaches children the creativity of books and stories and that books can be a lot of fun too. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
