Aislynn is accustomed to watching for the enemy. Her parents instructed her from the time she was young to look for people with the signs: greater than normal strength, eyes that can glow green, and the ability to jump long distances. Over the years, Aislynn has come to view her parents' fears as quirks-things that get in the way of having a normal high school life. When Aislynn's mother dies under suspicious conditions, her father doubles his restrictions. But all his precautions can't stop the boy with glowing green eyes from finding Aislynn. She realizes too late she's been drafted into an ancient Egyptian war, whether she's prepared or not.… (más)

I was torn between a 4 star rating and a 5 star rating, and I may change my mind, but right now I'm riding the high of having just finished it and I LOVED it! I've never read anything by this author, but I will have to start now. To me, this was everything a YA book should be - great characters, great settings, exciting storyline, sweet romance - all with the added bonus of being clean, so I have no problem with my middle schoolers reading it. The Egyptian mythology was really interesting, I don't know much about that subject so I have no clue if it was accurate or not, but it was fun to read about. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and made me think about the greater good versus those you love. How do you make that decision? Aislynn was a strong, loyal character and I loved how close she was to her family. There was a conclusion, but it left us with a lot of things un-answered so I'm hoping there will be a sequel. I think this will spread like wildfire through the school once word gets out about it. I definitely recommend this one! ( )

5 STARS

This would be a hard choice to make. I kept on thinking what would I really do in her place. Aislynn finds out about her family's past choices. She learned that everyone was keeping secrets from her.

This is a gripping tale of moral choices. What is right or wrong? What can she live with? It has lots of interesting characters. Lots of action, romance, drama, history and a parnormal element in it too.

Aislynn is in high school. She has a crush on one of her brother's new friend Dane. Her family is always moving changing names running from the enemies. Her mother has been dead for under a year.

Aislynn learns her fathers fears are a real concern as they have to run again and leave almost everything behind. She learns to not trust anyone or anything.

The setting for this book is all over the world. It starts with them living in Arizona, goes to the poles to Boston to Egypt and so on.

Aislynn learns she is not like anyone else. Her parents were on different sides of a war. She has half of her father and half of her mother in her.

I really like Aislynn and how she makes hard choices. She takes what she has learned and uses it to try and help her family but only if they make right choices too.

I enjoyed the ride of Son of War, Daughter of Chaos. It is a book I did not want to put down. I could not see a good choice to make for Aislynn. I loved the choices she did make.

I would love to read more books from Janette Rallison in the future.

I was given this ebook to read so I could honestly review it and be part of its blog tour. ( )

I LOVE Janette Rallison's books!
I read everything I can from her...LOVE THEM!
This book is FANTASTIC!

What if you weren't really who you thought you were?

Aislynn thinks her dad is really overprotective and kind of crazy.

He is always moving the family around and always telling them to watch for the enemy...those who ask a lot of questions, have eyes that glow green and seem stronger than anyone else.

Then she meets Dane, he likes her back...she takes him home while her father is out...and his eyes turn green...

Could everything her father ever taught her be true?

And what about her mother's death? Is it more than she knows about?

Come with Aislynn as she explores Egyptian tombs, camps among glaciers, fights man-eating scarabs, runs for her life...

And proves whether she believes more in love...or what's right and wrong.

A GREAT STORY!
VERY WELL WRITTEN!
A BOOK YOU CAN'T PUT DOWN! ( )

Aislynn Brosna and her family live like fugitives, always watching for the enemy. Who the enemy is, she's not quite sure. But she's been taught to watch for a slower than normal heartbeat, immunity to cold weather, eyes that flash green, exceptional strength and the ability to fly. Every time her dad thought the enemy was on to them they dropped everything and moved - first to either the Arctic or Antarctic, then to somewhere else. She'd lived all over the world by the time she was a senior in high school.

Recently her mother had been killed in a car accident and now it was just her, Roark and her father. Aislynn finds her father and Roark overprotective. Right now she's decided she wants a boyfriend and she's set her sights on her brother's team mate Dane. Roark says he asks too many questions. But Aislynn wants to live life to the fullest

Aislynn's father has always told her that he would tell her more about her heritage when she was older. The way things turned out, her father couldn't wait for her to get any older before he had to tell her about her heritage since their enemies were suddenly very actively hunting them down.

Son of War, Daughter of Chaos was a captivating book right from the first sentence. It was hard to put this book down. There were so many intriguing twists and turns, I wondered how this book could possibly turn out without one side or the other being totally wiped out.

I enjoyed the love triangle aspect. I thought the author did an excellent job of showing Aislynn's first love anguish and angst at his betrayal (or was it) and at the love and pressure to conform from her second love

The theme of which is more important - follow love, or follow what is right was also excellently shown. The struggle for Aislynn may have been resolved, but I think the book shows that it still remains a question for many of the other characters in the book.

I found Aislynn to be a very likeable character. I also liked Dane, although I did not agree with his desire to kill his enemies, even though he felt he was bringing justice. His justice was vigilante justice, not lawful justice.

While the characters of most of the Setites were likeable, I could not agree with their belief that they were doing the right thing. I think that Aislynn came up with a brilliant solution to the problem (at least for a year). I would love to see a sequel to this book, to find out what happens after the year is up.

Son of War, Daughter of Chaos was a fast paced, exciting thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I gave this novel 4 out of 5 stars. Readers of young adult paranormal fiction are sure to enjoy it. Highly recommended.

Thank you to the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.
