While I liked the book in and of itself, I do have to agree that it seemed to be a bit too short of a time from when Selina was attacked to when she fell in love with Dante; it would definitely have gone over better for me if that was longer than, what was it, a week? Maybe on the next read through I'll like it better though! ( )

I received the ebook version of this for LTER. It's a pretty good romance novel (although it's pretty short, so novella?), but I found some of it a little creepy. The main characters are a woman who is the victim of an attempted rape and the mystery man who saves and heals her. It must have seemed like a good idea, a niche that hadn’t been filled yet, but I’m not sure that putting it in a romance novel was the best way to go. Yes, we need to see women dealing with it, but romance novels tend to be centered on the sex and it seems a callous way to deal with the aftermath of attempted rape. It might have worked better if given more time to develop to give the reader more distance, but this quick read takes place over about a week’s period of time in the story and her recovery and reactions to him just seemed too fast. If this doesn't sound like something that would bother you, then go for it. ( )

Dante has a secret. He can conjure fire and uses this to punish those who attack and hurt women on the dark streets of New York. Dante never knows when he is called for help, which creates a rather big problem for any relationship. Dante would never guess though, that the woman he's been in love with for two years would one day need his help.

The book was a quick read. I think it was refreshingly different from other romance novels I've recently read. I rather liked both the main characters an Dante especially. I'll definitely read the next books in the series. ( )

ABOUT THE BOOK:

It’s Time To Meet A New Kind Of Hero...

Dante Stark has a dark secret--a legacy left to him by his father which is both a blessing and a curse. A traumatic experience as a small boy gave him special powers of healing, but it comes with a price. Destined to wander the world alone to heal others, he's accepted his fate. Until Selina Rogers forces him to confront his deepest fears, erotic desires, and question his capacity to love.

Selina Rogers has made a name for herself at Inferno Enterprises. She's tough, confident and prepared to succeed. She's also built a world she believes is safe, until she's attacked and then saved by a masked stranger. As he helps her heal physically and emotionally, she becomes fascinated by his overwhelming power and gentle touch. Determined to show Dante the love he's been denying himself, Selina surrenders her heart, and dreams of a future with the mysterious man who completes her.

But will his dark legacy destroy them...or save them both...

MY REVIEW:

This was short, but very intense. An interesting twist on a modern day superhero, Dante’s Fire has everything a reader could want: romance, action, mystery, and comedy.

The tough heroine, Selina, finds herself battling with many different things: a promotion she really wants, a mysterious sexy mail carrier, and an attack that leaves her brutally and emotionally scarred. Enter our hero, Dante, aka Daniel, and watch as she picks herself up and grows. The attraction between them doesn’t leave anything unwanted either.

Dante’s Fire was an intriguing mix of a story. There’s a fast pace storyline that gets better with each turn of the page. Readers won’t be disappointed. So looking forward to book two! ( )

This book was just not long enough and I was sad it ended so quickly. Jennifer Probst did a great job drawing the reader in and keeping the story alive. I would like to see a sequel to the story but with more suspense and thrill. I say this because I believe Probst has the talent to produce a great novel. She described her characters well and was able to add emotion for the reader. I wished there was more about Dante’s friend, seems as though he could be a very important character if the story was to continue. Again although this was too short, it was a great read involving riches, love, suspense and every girls dream of a superhero. ( )
