Out of money and out of options after her yearlong exile, Eleanor Schreiber agrees to join forces with Kingsley Edge, the king of kink. After her first taste of power as a Dominant, Eleanor buries her old submissive self and transforms into Mistress Nora, the Red Queen. With the help of a mysterious young man with a job even more illicit than her own, Nora squares off against a cunning rival in her quest to become the most respected, the most feared Dominatrix in the Underground. While new lovers and the sweet taste of freedom intoxicate Nora, she is tempted time and time again by Soren, her only love and the one man who refuses to bow to her. But when Soren accepts a new church assignment in a dangerous country, she must make an agonizing choice--will the queen keep her throne and let her lover go, or trade in her crown for Soren's collar?… (más)

I read The Saint and was rocked by it - it is very full on and powerful. Eleanor is now 'mature', and has been staying in a monastery, not the school girl of The Saint.

In the two intervening books, she obviously got closer to Kingsley. Now she goes back to his business and works for him as his dominatrix. I am writing this before that part begins, but I'm delaying going on to that part. Like with the sadism in The Saint I wonder if I'll feel any the wiser about understanding how hurting someone quite severely can be fulfilling or a turn on...

I'm not attracted to that world beyond curiosity. But quite apart from that, the writing is very powerful and lots of intense emotions. I imagine it's like downing a whiskey compared with a cordial! I do love intensity, and while there are plenty of side trips Tiffany Reisz's books are quite unrelenting because even the quite parts have mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat. ( )

I find I'm at loss for words with this book.

You know how we don't talk about Fight Club? Well, we don't talk about Nora, Soren and Kingsley outside of the circle of people who actually read their books. What would you say to an outsider without scaring and scarring them away? *grinning* I honestly can say I tried and got very mixed results. The thing is if you don't follow the books from the start one of them taken out of context will push all the wrong buttons. I've seen it happening. This one is probably the hardest to read. It starts with a hard to stomach scene and it continues to push our boundaries.

The end though is totally worth it. It felt profound and meaningful, and at the same time it ended very quietly. I am sad now, sad to let some of my favorite characters go. I will never read about another Soren or Nora or Kingsley and various secondary characters affecting their rich, dramatic lives again.

This is a book which built Nora into a heroine we saw when we read The Siren. This is a book explaining Soren's initial coldness, and the book describing Nora's meeting of Wesley. Here Nora loves and hates Soren. She gives him second chances and tries to rebuild herself. She is torn between loneliness, excitement and acute loss.

Kingsley and Soren fare better here as they manage to mend their relationship damaged after Nora left. And of course, there are glimpses into present, tantalising, exciting and terrifying. Miss Reisz, can we have a gratuitious epilogue, pretty please? We really, really need one.

As usual, a fantastic, dramatic read. And as usual, it left me hungry for more. Highly recommended. So sad to see this excellent series end.

Reading order: The Siren, The Angel, The Prince, The Mistress, The Saint, The King, The Virgin and The Queen. ( )

5 "The Birth of the Red Queen" Stars!

All hail the queen! Without a doubt Tiffany Reisz is the queen of BDSM erotica. Proving once again her incredible talent at weaving together a provocative, erotic tale, with an affinity for religious symbolism and the further development of what has become one of my favorite trio (Nora/Eleanor, Soren and Kingsley) of characters of all time, Tiffany Reisz has earned another 5 Stars in by book!

In The Queen, we finally get to see how the Red Queen and the White Queen come together. After making promises of forever, and being asked to do the one thing she could never do for Soren, Eleanor takes a backseat to join her King in ruling the Underground and for Nora, and her underlying dominant side to be born. During this transformation process, in which Nora leans heavily on Kingsley, Nora comes to resent her past and comes to realize that she has had to suppress part of who she really is in exchange for the forever she promised.

Learning to let her dominant side shine through is not an easy process, particularly when she must displace the reigning queen to assume her rightful place. But if there is something that Nora flourishes under is a challenge. And we come to see how the Red Queen learns her tricks of the trade.

However, try though she might, Nora can't fully let go of the ties that bind her like no other to Soren. Even knowing that submitting to him means burying her dominant side, its a constant struggle that is made no easier by Soren's constant attempts to reclaim his "Little One." Until finally Soren counters with a life-altering decision that Nora/Eleanor is unable to allow him to undertake no matter what it costs. Who will win in this battle of the Doms, and is their possibly any way to mesh together their own different desires, sadist/dominant needs and unique love bond?

What an incredible conclusion to one of the most memorable series of all times! With an ending befit a Queen and her King and God, Ms. Reisz once again delivers a heartfelt, tantalizing, slightly wicked and taboo, one-of-a-kind read! Now Ms. Reisz, please, please write a new series for your devoted fans who can't wait to discover the next rulers of the erotic underworld!
