Sherrilyn Kenyon is my favorite writer of all time!

Nick Gautier is an awkwardly tall teenager living in New Orleans. Not only does his mom buy him hideous Hawaiian printed shirts that he wears not to hurt her feelings but he battles demons, vampires, zombies and ancient gods almost on a daily basis.

Two years ago, he was living a normal life…okay, it wasn’t that normal since his mom was a stripper and his dad was a felon but he discovered his life was not what he thought it was. He learned that he was a powerful demon called a Malachai with two prophecies…one he would destroy the world and the other he would not. Throughout history, the Malachai have all been evil even his father was evil before he died but Nick was raised by a loving mom who would do anything for him including stripping but now she works at a legitimate restaurant and bar for some shapeshifters. She has no idea that the preternatural world exists and Nick wants to keep it that way. His mom means everything to him.

In the last book, his powers that everyone tried to keep locked away so some evil beings who are in another realm could not find him were unleashed. He has to learn how to control them or his Malachai demon could take over.

His day has already started out bad, he’s seen a ghostly image of a person in robes on a horse covered in scales ride through the halls of his school and passed right through him but nobody else saw it. His best friend, Caleb, who is also a demon has become ill and may die. There are weird creatures with scythes following him around. A storm hit the school and all the were-creatures are turning from human into their animal form. Good thing the staff is full of people called Squires who know about preternatural beings separated them from the humans so that nobody noticed. There are giant mosquitos and birds dive bombing everyone and now his mom has been kidnapped.

He has to somehow save his mom and Caleb while fighting all kinds of creatures and he doesn’t know who he can really trust. He’ll have to go on his instincts and hope that he can learn to control his powers without destroying everyone he knows.

I absolutely love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books. I started with the Dark Hunter Series and quickly gobbled up every other series she wrote and am totally addicted to all of them. Her storylines are deep and complicated with a lot of back history on different mythological beings, gods and demi-gods from various pantheons so I get lost at times at who did what to whom and what powers everyone has but luckily, she does a great job of reminding the readers of everything so that we can keep everything straight. I believe a lot of the books can be read as stand-alone books and the books do not have to be read in order but I would recommend that they be read in order just to be safe and for the reader not to get lost or miss anything.

I think I may have saved the Chronicles of Nick for last, thinking it was only for young adults but I am glad I finally started reading them. I think two books were already out when I started reading them and then I had to wait for the next book. Waiting is so hard to do but Sherrilyn doesn’t make you wait too long likes some writers do. She is always putting out one book or the other from one of the series so she keeps me pretty satisfied. Her next book is Born of Defiance from The League series and out on May 12th, 2015.

I can’t think that after 6 books a story can keep my interest. I am actually remembering the mythology used in the series. It so intricate the weaving that the author using that keeps men coming back for more with the character of Nick. This is by far the best story in the series by Sherrilyn Kenyon!! ( )

Continuing Nick's story as he tries to prevent himself from letting his Malachai destroy all those he loves. Several new faces as well as old. Some repetition but that's expected to remind the reader what happened before. Some angsty teenager stuff and Nick falling for some of the same stuff he's falling for in the past.

Nick learns more about himself and about those around him and gets into trouble again. ( )

Another wonderful masterpiece from one of my most favourite authors. YIPPEE!

WHAT I LIKED:
NICK. As always, Nick never ceases to amaze me. He is so funny and fun to read about. The way he respects and trusts people when he has every reason to doubt them. The way he handles every situation with his signature Cajun snarky attitude and wit. It's all just so awesome. My words don't do him justice. You won't understand until you read the book. So read the book, please? You won't regret it. :)

THE NEW CHARACTERS. There were some new characters in this story, and I loved them. Not as much as Nick, but still. Even though some characters weren't present until the book was almost finished, I still feel like I got to know them quite a bit. Usually, when a character in a 350 paged book is introduced approximately 60 pages before the book ends, I know next to nothing about them. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the new characters, were wonderful additions to the book, despite the fact that they were so lately introduced.

WHAT I DISLIKED:
Ooooh, this is so hard. Nick is perfect, even with his flaws, and so are all the other characters.

I think the one negative thing I have to say about this is that it didn't quite reach my expectations. Granted, my expectations were astronomically high, but that's only because the previous book was awesome. I expected this book to be every bit as awesome as before, and more, but it was just OK. Don't get me wrong, the book was still magnificent, but compared to the last book...not as much. But this is such a minor thing, so don't let this deter you from reading it.

JUST A THOUGHT:
I can't believe it took me this long to realize it, but, have you noticed that all the titles in this series start with the letter "I"?
Cool, right? I wonder how many more different "I" words she'll find, and inevitably make that word so much better?

Like all the other books before this one, reading this book makes me want to read the next book very soon. I can't believe that there will be a total of 14 books in this series. This fact makes me unbelievably happy...but, that would mean, I'd have to wait years until I can finish this series.
I can't wait for the next book, Invision, it's supposed to be coming out on April 8th, 2016! So, so excited! I just hope I will remember where this book left off when I start it.

This series is going to be epic, I just know it. ( )
