Although I enjoy vampires a great deal, this was not a favorite of mine. I was disappointed that the main character was rather one sided and willing to just stay kidnapped and turned into a sex slave for a vampire. I would have tried to escape long before she did, not after having sex with the vampire who was training her to satisfy her kidnapper. The whole premise just didn't sit right with me. I kept seeing Spike in my mind from Buffy the Vampire slayer In my mind when I read about William and when reading his dialogue. Very similar To Spike(whose real name on the show is William before he is turned) , And Spike was my fav from the show. It just didn't feel right. The writing was good. I just didn't really enjoy the book and the ending was a little confusing. ( )

Kidnappings, finishing school and genies all feature in this fun story from Vivian Lane!

Synopsis:

Catherine is an everyday college student, she goes to classes, works hard and looks after her grandmother. Then her life is turned upside down, she meets Tallis, a centuries old vampire, who kidnaps her - planning to make her his courtesan. She is drugged and flown halfway across the world the to a finishing school in England, where the mix of demons and vampires must teach Catherine everything she knows. With only six weeks before she is returned to Tallis, Catherine has to keep her wits about her in order to escape this nightmarish world she knew nothing about.

Review:

The premise for this book sounded really interested. I’ve always been fascinated with vampire stories and this felt like something different, fun and interesting, and it is. There is lots of action and some really funny/witty scenes between Catherine and William. I really liked the switching point of view between Catherine and William, especially when Lane shows the same moment from both characters perspectives. The characters are well put together, my favourite being the genie assistant/sex ed teacher. She’s very funny and I often enjoyed the chapters featuring her. William is also a great character, the witty English vampire reminds me of a Lestat kind of figure.

Now the book is a pretty short one and this was a bit of an issue for me. At only just over 100 pages I felt that some of the scenes were rushed through. There is definitely never a dull moment in the story, but I felt perhaps a bit more build up to some of the more dramatic moments would have been nice. I would also have loved some more background information - there are so many characters and different types of demon mentioned in such a short amount of pages, it would be lovely to know more about them.

There are also quite a lot of sex scenes in the story - definitely not for younger readers! - and this is particularly towards the end of the novel, whilst this is not a problem, I did miss the kick ass fun chapters from the earlier parts of the novel, compared with the latter ones.

There is a big cliffhanger at the end of the story and this really made me want to know more! It is set sometime in the future and this made me really desperate to find out what happens. I’m very much looking forward to reading the next installment. Whilst this is not the most mind-blowing of stories it is fun, sweet and enjoyable - definitely worth a read if you enjoy vampire fiction! ( )

I'm sorry, but this book did not work for me, I give it two stars only because the main characters, but the author was unable to execute the idea, is poorly written, sometimes incomprehensible! If the author rewrites, I would be very interested to read it again. ( )

I really liked this book, except for the ending! Of course, we all have an ending to every book in mind that rarely works out for us! That being said, I really liked the main character, Catherine, who is kidnapped by a vampire and taken to another vampire for courtesan training. I think there could have been a bit more character development for the other characters in the book, but it was an easy read. I believe I will read other books in the "Echoes of Ossiria" series. ( )

I started reading this book last night and i just finished it this morning. I found it to be a very entertaining read. It had humor, the main characters were likeable. the villain was even enjoyable with his sadistic controlling behavior. He made you have a feeling of hating him.
I really liked the whole relationship with Catherine and William but i wanted more of them. I hope that William finds Catherine again because i love that pairing soo much. The epilogue kinda of threw me off though i don't know who this Mike person is but i don't know if i like him.
Also i think Tallis got off easy but that's just my opinion. I cant wait for more books( i hope more books are coming) because i enjoyed this one soo much. I will definitely be re-reading this book. ( )

I wasn’t one of those whiny, tortured wankers that seemed so popular in vampire fiction in recent decades.
