This is the last in this New 52 run of Batgirl.. before they fucked it up all up with that fucking awful new one that bears no resembles to the character of Barabara Gordon... But anyway.. I won't rant about how terrible that is here..

This Gail Simone penned Batgirl series has been BRILLIANT. So I'm a bit disappointed by this last volume.. but over all it's still a great series. There's just a lot of WTF issues in this collection.

The first one I have no idea what the hell is going on. It's some weird alternate/dream/vision reality where the Joker sells ice cream and everybody is happy and Barbara wears a stupid while suit and is called Bluebelle for some reason?! You could skip that one.

Then we just jump right into this vampire story with some guy called Silver who I think is from another series. That was OK. Then there is a story where some college kids get strapped by some demon nightmare thing they summoned, and Batgirl has to save them. Again it was OK but a bit pointless. The story with Poison Ivy was kind of cool because I like that character.

There was also one where she has to save Alysia and her eco-activist friends from Ragdoll. That was better than expected and I actually think Ragdoll is a pretty cool, creepy assassin!

Finally we get to the conclusion of the Knightfall arc that has continued the whole run of this series. Knightfall as a big night planned to cleanse the city of all its criminals.. which I guess is a bad thing... Babs teams up with Black Canary, Huntress and enlists a lot of her other superheroine friends to help with the final fight. She also uses some of her Oracle computer skills which was cool. In the end she decides to leave Gotham with Alysia.. and I guess they're heading to Burnside to destroy everything I love about Batgirl..

The final story is the kind of alternate reality one-shot thing I HATE. It's some Futere's End thing where she's not a hero yet and steps up to help a group of survivors escape the city which is flooding. Again it feel a bit pointless. ( )

Part of my massive Barbara Gordon Re-read which I had a glorious amazing time with. Birds of Prey, under the hands of Gail Simone, was a gorgeous thing and It made me super happy to have all my amazing women back together doing amazing things! ( )

This incoherent mess was annoying on almost every level. There were like five unrelated stories tacked together. And I kept seeing something like "three months ago". But I never saw anything like "present". So apparently we kept going back in time, by three month blocks. Yet the story arc itself kept moving forward. So what the bloody hell was up with that "three months ago" every other page? bah.

And then she has this mission that she can't accomplish by herself. So she scrambles to find people. The story before that? Or maybe to stories ago. bah. There's this mute super killer who hangs out with her. Tagging along on missions. Except . . . for some unknown reason she wasn't around for when she had to "do something by herself". Nor was she around when she realized she couldn't do the mission by herself and needed help. Then for no apparent reason, Catwoman and Batman's daughter showed up to offer her help. The first Batgirl did upon being offered this help was to savagely beat the woman who offered to help her.

Batgirl was an emotional mess who beat everyone around her, was a nasty bitch to everyone who tried to help her (like Poison Ivy and Huntress) and had a massive chip on her shoulder. I'm surprised anyone would want anything to do with her.

And then the last story was set in the future. And Batgirl has bulked up to the size of the Incredible Hulk and goes by the name "Beast". It as quite . . . boring.

The whole bloody mess was incoherent, tedious, and boring. ( )
