I can't get over how well-thought-out and well-put-together this story is. I'd have to say all the worldbuilding and descriptions were my favorite part... so thought-provoking! And such strong characters! Like some other readers, I struggled a little keeping track of everyone, but by the end of the story they had all become memorable and meaningful. The actual meat of the plot seemed to take awhile to get going, but the beginning gave us a lot of important background and world-building information that was needed in order to understand the rest of the story, so that's a plus. The overall structure and flow was so well done, and I just love your writing style! Can't wait to see what happens next (cursed cliffhangers!!) ( ) EJFisch | Feb 28, 2015 | I must say, though, that this is not a book for people who expect lighthearted banter and funny aliens ala Star Wars. This is more traditional Sci-Fi. In my opinion, the tech and world-building are the crowning jewels of this book. I didn’t feel like I had to ask questions as to what things were, but the different technology wasn’t presented in a hard to read way either. If there is one flaw, I could have done without so many flashbacks. Some seemed a little redundant and bogged down the beginning of the story for me, but other readers could very well feel differently. Another factor to consider is that the book does not wrap up much of the story in any satisfying way. Reading this without the sequels would feel like quitting halfway through. (
