She was engaged to a wonderful man, her career as a lawyer was skyrocketing and she was never more beautiful. Then a secret from nineteen years ago threatened to shatter it all. I really love Belva Plain's books. I think she is a wonderful writer and I give the story an A+! I definitely love books about family relationships rather then straight romance. Belva Plain tells the story of a successful thirty seven year old career woman, Jennie Rakowsky. Jennie is an attorney practicing law in New York City. She is currently involved in a case trying to help a small community in upstate New York keep their pristine natural habitat of fourteen hundred acres from being developed by a huge mob-related development company. As the drama in Jennie’s professional life unfolds, she is preparing to marry the love of her life. But there is one complication. She gave birth to a child when she was a teenager and gave it up for adoption; a secret she kept her entire life. And now an agency has tracked Jennie down because her nineteen year old child wants to meet her. The entire novel takes place in just a few short weeks. During those weeks you will laugh with Jennie feeling her triumph of success and joy of finding true love and cry with Jennie feeling the anguish of her pain and suffering. Published in 1989, over twenty years ago, "Blessings" is still relevant today. Circumstances vary, but teen pregnancy and class barriers still exist. Many parents still have exemplary standards and expectations and young women still lose their hearts to unworthy recipients. People often remark that life was simpler back then. Was it really? "Blessings" is light reading. A bit unrealistic? Maybe, but nevertheless; a touching love story, clean and refreshing. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
