Tyson Thompson graduated high school at 16 and left the town of Seafare, Oregon, bound for what he assumed would be bigger and better things. He soon found out the real world has teeth, and he returns to the coast with four years of failure, addiction, and a diagnosis of panic disorder trailing behind him. His brother, Bear, and his brother's husband, Otter, believe coming home is exactly what Tyson needs to find himself again. Surrounded by family in the Green Monstrosity, Tyson attempts to put the pieces of his broken life back together. But shortly after he arrives home, Tyson comes face to face with inevitability in the form of his childhood friend and first love, Dominic Miller, who he hasn't seen since the day he left Seafare. As their paths cross, old wounds reopen, new secrets are revealed, and Tyson discovers there is more to his own story than he was told all those years ago. In a sea of familiar faces, new friends, and the memories of a mother's devastating choice, Tyson will learn that in order to have any hope for a future, he must fight the ghosts of his past.… (más)

These guyyyyyys. Ty's rants aren't quite as extreme as Bear's (I did skim many of those) (sorry, Bear), but they sure are brothers. *nods* *rolls eyes* The cast Ty's story introduces is nothing short of wonderfully weird, and I am grateful beyond words to have started this series so late that the last book, The Long and Winding Road, is also available in Kindle form from my library. :) *salutes* *runs off to read* ( )

Surprisingly, this isn't my favorite Klune series. Maybe it's the cheesiness, I don't know, but this hasn't hooked me like the other stuff I've read from him. Enjoyable, though. And I can't wait to read the final installment after that epilogue. ( )

Look, I wanted to give it something like 3.5. Tyson is ok, Dom is ok, but really there's too much nonsense and too little good things. I wish we had more of Ben and Tyson bonding, more of WHY Dom and Tyson love each other after 4 years without talking. Also, all the chaos inside Tyson is not very believable, sorry. ( )

Still not a fan of the suspenseful angsty writing. When a book is this long, it becomes tiring very quickly to always dance around the point so much.
BUT, for the most part I liked it better than the original read.
I need to rest a bit, however, before I dive into the last book in the series.

Original review:

I love Bear and I love Otter and I love the Kid.

But oh my God, this book was exhausting.

I felt it was repetitive, melodramatic and maudlin, much like I felt about [book:Into This River I Drown|17213054] and [book:Burn|13411825].

But I've already decided I want to see this story to its end, so I'm definitely gonna read the final book when it comes out. If nothing else, I want to get to know Izzie and the twins :) ( )

Wow. Just wow.
TJ Klune is a genius in so many ways. He has so much talent as a story teller.
He is FUNNY! The ramblings that Bear and Kid make...hysterical. TJ has a way with words. He can make you laugh one second, cry the next, and then laugh again, all in the span of 5 pages.
I loved BOATK, I liked WWA a lot, but this book?? Blew me away. I loved seeing Tyson (so weird to call him that!!) grow up and handle (or attempt to) the struggles and challenges before him. It was nice to see him imperfect. He was such a smartass Kid but he was a Kid nonetheless and it took a toll on him. My heart broke for him (and Bear) as he worked through the pain. And Dominic? *sigh* How was it possible to find another understanding "Otter" type? Fabulous. I loved him. I also loved the tie in with Paul/Vince/Helena/Sandy/Charlie/Johnny Depp from [b:Tell Me It's Real|17194490|Tell Me It's Real|T.J. Klune|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1357359699s/17194490.jpg|23666405]. My heart broke as we met Isabelle and my heart grew when we met Ben.
TJ warned us that many of us would be cursing his name with this book. There is only one reason I am doing exactly that...I WANT BOOK 4 NOW!!! Seriously, that epilogue?!?!? Ugh. You are killing me TJ! I want more.
But regardless, I will continue to praise TJ and love him more and more. He truly is a genius in my eyes. ( )
