Beginner Reader ~ borrowed from the Library THE CAMPING TRIP is another book from the PONY SCOUTS series. It's at the beginning 2nd Grade Reading Level, with 571 words in a large friendly font. The story begins with Meg's alarm going off. She leaps up thinking that she's got to rush to ready for school, but instead she sees her sleeping bag and remembers that summer vacation has started and that she, Jill, and Annie are off to go camping with the ponies and Jill's mom. Meg thinks the camping trip is going to be like a sleepover, but it's a little more complicated than that and she finds out that she's not as prepared as she should be. She doesn't have bug spray nor a flashlight, but that's okay because mom is prepared with spares. And then there's the fact that the bathroom is a few minutes walk away. --- In this story Meg discovers that that camping is really different and so much fun. For every slight inconvenience there are even better pluses. You might, for example, have to wait or dinner because you have to take care of the ponies you just rode, but hot dogs taste even better. Another side aspect of this adventure is the ghost stories. The girls manage to scare themselves enough that they they squeal when Jill's mom shows up unexpectedly. Good book to show youngsters what camping is like. The author continues to have the girls support one another. And, of course, there are ponies!!! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
