Profiles a series of animals with unusual eyes and explains how such animals use their uniquely evolved eyes to gain essential information about the biological world. Summary: This book compared the four different types of eyes animals have. This book gave definitions, descriptions, and examples for each type of eye. The book uses diagrams, charts, pictures, and text to compare the eyes. This book explains how animals benefit from their eye type. Age appropriate: 1st-4th grade Review: The format of this book is very formal. It would be a great example to show students how they can format their scientific observations in their science journals. Though this is a children's book it is very scientific. This book would be great in a life-science unit. 4-LS1-1 From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction. This book talks in depth about the different types of eyes found in nature and what these eyes do for certain organisms. It states that vision is relied on more than any other sense for most animals. It also gives many examples of animals and explains what their eyes look like, what they do for them, and how they help them function in the wild. While also providing other helpful facts about that animals habitat as well. At the end of the book, the is an appendix that shows how an eye evolves and quick animal facts like what they eat, their size, and where they live. This book holds a lot of information in it, and could feel a little overwhelming if it were to be read all at once. I think it would be a good resource for an elementary classroom if they are doing a unit on different animals and their makeup/build or learning about the 5 senses. Since there is no story line to the book, it would be easy for the students to flip to whatever animal they are looking for and record the information they need or a teacher to choose a few to read aloud to the whole class. . Eye to Eye is a book that describes the different types of eyes and the function of eyes of various animals, including the colossal squid, bullfrog, and viper. This book contains fun and detailed illustrations of the animals and their eyes, as well as a list of animal facts, a brief description of the evolution of the eye, and a glossary at the back of the book. This book would be an excellent choice for elementary school students, as it is both informational and engaging. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
