Look What Came from Japan by Miles Harvey is a book about different inventions, products, foods, arts, games, etc. that came from Japan. Miles has written many of these kinds of books from different nations. This book is a little outdated, since it was written in 1999. There have been many more advances in science/technology/engineering that have come out of Japan. The book shows many inventions from the 13,000 years ago to 1999. One downfall, since there is Japanese in the books for different products, there should be a pronunciation of the words in parenthesis.
A lesson that I would teach with the children would be inventions. Using Lego robotics, have the children talk about, draw, and then make their own robot. We would then talk about the different invention and where they possibly thing that they were invented from. This book would be a great book to use, given that most of the technology that is used for electronics has been invented in Japan. It covers lots of well-known things came from Japan but this book is copyrighted 1999, so it's a little old. If the publisher to revise this book, they have to add tons of new things. Buy the way, what didn't come rom Japan? It's the TNTT!
