Friendship takes center stage in New York Times bestselling author Nancy Thayer??s captivating, emotionally charged novel featuring all the tenderness and wit, drama and romance that readers have come to expect from this insightful, much-loved writer.

When they meet as girls on a beach in Nantucket, Maggie McIntyre and Emily Porter become fast friends??though Emily??s well-heeled mother would prefer that she associate with the upscale daughters of bankers and statesmen rather than the child of a local seamstress. But the two lively, imaginative girls nevertheless spend many golden summers together building castles in the sand, creating magical worlds of their own, and forging grand plans for their future.

Even as Emily falls for Maggie??s brother, Ben, and the young women??s paths diverge, the duo remain close friends. Then the unthinkable happens: Handsome, charismatic, charming, and incredibly sexy Wall Street trader Cameron Chadwick upends both their lives and disrupts their friendship.

Struggling with the tough choices they must make and the secrets they must keep, the two young women discover that the road to love and fulfillment is full of bumps and twists. And while true love may be rare, Maggie and Emily find that friendship is even rarer??and more valuable still.

Loved it! Though I wish more would come from it....Nancy does not disappoint! ( )

I was really disappointed in this book. I have enjoyed this author's books in the past, but one of the characters was so immature and superficial that it almost offended me. The author's plotlines usually tie up loose ends and everyone lives "happily ever after," but this book tried much too hard to make that happen.

I doubt that I will read another book by Nancy Thayer. ( )

Friendship, family, true love and a sense of belonging...
These felt like the key parts of the book for me.

Emily and Maggie see each other as sisters. They are best friends and see each other every summer in Nantucket. Maggie is poor, Emily is rich. This matters little as far as their friendship is concerned. But when Emily falls for Maggie's brother Ben, things start to get complicated.
When Cameron comes along, things get absolutely completely chaotic and their friendship is threatened.

At times, both girls settle (in very different ways). But in order to be happy they both need their friendship and the man that is their true love.

I always forget how much I like reading books by Nancy Thayer! They should always make a yearly beach read list. ( )

I love all of Nancy Thayers books, but this may be my least favorite to date. It was too cliche and sappy, yet some parts were endearing enough to plow through in one sitting. ( )
