One of my all-time favorite picture books, and a joy to read to toddlers and preschoolers alike. This sweet story features a lonely yeti whose fellow forest creatures avoid him because he seems so fierce. Along comes a lost little bird, who isn't intimidated by the big beast and they forge a lovely friendship. This book is especially fun to read aloud because Yeti and Bird converse only in sounds, and it give the storyteller a lot to work with. ( )

This is a picture book illustrated by it's author Nadia Shireen using a beautiful palette of colours. The story itself is a simply moral of not judging someone by their appearance.
The yeti scares away the other animals in the forest until a bird blown off course takes shelter with him and they become unlikely friends. Great pictures make a book you can read again and again. ( )
