It's really hard to enjoy Wood's comics given his douchebag...ery?...ness?... esness? He's a douchebag. There we go. ( ) Did they really destroy Arkea? That was the main question in this second TPB in the new X-Men. It's still mostly women which I still liked. And this time they're going up against a sisterhood of evil that was started to be put together by a back from the dead Lady Deathstroke. That seems to be one of the themes of this TPB. Baddies back from the dead. We also get to see more with Bling/Roxy and Mercury and their bi/lesbian drama. We also get a bit more Jubilee and her little kiddo. There was also lots of Rachel which was very cool. Overall it was a solid TPB with good art and an interesting story that I didn't guess right away. I thought the first volume of this new all-female X-Men series was very strong. That quality continues with volume 2. Lady Deathstryke’s consciousness has been downloaded into a new body. And she’s determined to continue “upgrading” that body with the best cybernetics she can buy or steal. Sometimes, when a familiar enemy is resurrected to trouble heroes again, it feels redundant. Been there, done that. However, this isn't exactly Yuriko – she’s sharing the body of Ana Cortez who begins to regret her decision to be a host. Especially when Yuriko discovers Arkea and believes that “it” is the key to perfecting herself. She is joined by Typhoid Mary, the Enchantress and Reiko, who together steal a piece of Akrea; which promptly possesses Reiko and assumes control of the group! Arkea has learned from her defeat at the hands of the X-Men and decides to recruit even more muscle and assemble a femme fatale team to oppose them. Meanwhile, Kitty Pride has left (the result of events in another X-series), Monet has come to the school and Jubilee's adoption of Shogo is underway. Rachel and Storm still haven’t ironed out who exactly is in charge of this “not yet a team” but that doesn't prevent them from working together when they discover the threat. That is one of the best aspects of this series. Though the team does have some internal strife/dissension, it doesn't interfere with their ability to work together. Overall, this is an excellent series with lots of action from very powerful and varied mutants, plus some personal drama just to remind readers they are still “human.” Highly recommended! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
