If there were a modicum of intelligence injected into this book, its writer and its photographer alike, would have tried to genuinely understand the nature of cats, and perhaps foremost what makes living beings enjoy life. The introduction to this book states that no cats were harmed in the production of the book. However, imagine a cat hissing for fun. They don't. The overwhelming majority of them hiss when feeling immensely and immediately threatened. Also, some of the cats in this book are fatally obese. This book was published in the USA, where I know a lot of well-minded persons report obesity in animals to the authorities so that their diet and general well-being can be looked after by people who both genuinely care for cats and who don't allow their enslaving and enabling of obese animals to be photographed for a book like this, obviously designed to only make its idiotic creators fast money. This is atrocious, and allow me to add that I've been part of making two photo books for cats and I am fortunate to live with a cat who's healthy. Also, every joke in this book stretches the mind by trying to compare cats with humans, be it in drawings, repetitive and trite text, or image, the message is clear: avoid this book. ( )

I read this book during my lunch hour – which in retrospect, was probably a mistake, because I almost spit out my food several times. (I feel like I still have a green bean wedged somewhere in my sinuses) So, read this hilarious cat “guide” with a pinch of salt, and no food or drink in your mouth. Chock full of funny charts and photos, the perfect gift for the crazy cat person in your life. ( )

I got this book for free from a relative so my expectations were not all that high. It was pretty funny overall with cute cat pictures and silly advice.

The style is kind of early-Ellen-Degeneres with jokes that are slightly inappropriate, but extreme enough that you know it is meant to be a joke. However, some jokes I found to be in poor taste like cat suicide (I'm sorry; I've liked on this planet long enough to know that suicide is not a humorous topic).

Also, the author misuses the term "negative reinforcement" (she really means "positive punishment"), which is a common error, but a big pet peeve of mine (thanks a lot BA in psychology; I knew you'd be good for something).

Overall, a silly book. Not uncontrollable laughing kind of fun, but good enough to lift your mood on a bad day. ( )

Mildly amusing, and pretty much what you'd expect from a gift-bait book. Mine came from my parents, and I suspect there are few people who will purchase a copy for themselves. ( )

Review by Shadow Croome, dictated to human slave Judy Croome: For any multi-talented cat, such as myself (one can't be honest and modest, now, can one?), this book is an essential addition to one's cat-a-library. Why should Grumpy Cat get all the celebrity status?

"How to make your cat an Internet Celebrity" provides valuable advice for any cat/human slave wishing to break into the cut throat world of feline celebrity status. With chapters such as "clawing your way to the top" and "the world is your litter box" any ambitious cat can train his/her human in the finer details of managing a star-studded career as an internet celebrity. It's also easy to use with plenty of diagrams and simple tasks that any human slave should manage to understand.

For any extraordinary cat wishing to fulfill his/her potential, I'd highly recommend that this book is left on your human's bed as soon as possible. ( )
