There's something about the tarnished innocence and idea that there is more to the world than we know that truly appeals to me. This book is a prime example of that. There's a particular panel that's stuck with me, it's an image of young Courtney perched on a sofa. She looks very lonely. Next to her is some type of fae, something not monstrous but certainly not human, and it looks equally lonely and sad. It's beautiful and haunting. The book itself is much like that. I definitely need to find more Courtney Crumrin. (Provided by publisher) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"There's magic lurking around every corner, and Courtney's new next-door neighbor, a young girl named Holly Hart, is about to stumble right into it. Luckily Courtney's around to teach Holly all the dos and don'ts of witchcraft. After all, Courtney has learned a thing or two from Uncle Aloysius. But Holly doesn't want Courtney's help, because she knows the real Courtney Crumrin. The one the other kids at school whisper about. The one the other kids are afraid of. Will Courtney be able to convince her that she's not the vengeful witch she appears to be? Or will Holly take matters--and magic--into her own hands?"--Back cover. 2022 reread: This series holds up! I’m loving the reread. This volume gives a glimpse of Courtney’s acts of avenging justice from her (far from innocent) victims’ POVs. Consequences have been a long time coming, and they’re coming fast and furious by the end. Some great Aloysius rescues in this one, drawn to take your breath away. ( )
