Book II (Kenner Lake series)
  Indiancreek | Nov 29, 2017 |
Title: Coral Moon (Kanner Lake Series #2)
Author: Brandilynn Collins
Pages: 319
Year: 2007
Publisher: Zondervan
This series of novels is part of Zondervan’s Seatbelt Suspense Series and boy does this novel live up to that title! Readers head back to Kanner Lake, Idaho, approximately one month after the events of the first book in the series, Violet Dawn, have taken place.
Leslie Brymes, a young reporter for the Kanner Lake Times, has started receiving presents. She has no idea who they are from and really, really doesn’t want any more. The presents are murdered residents of Kanner Lake. Leslie has no idea why she is receiving these presents, but she is a reporter and she is going to find the murderer. She, along with some other townsfolk, has also been experiencing a sense of evil that is very real. Is it possible that a ghost is killing these people? Her roommate, Paige, who is the main character in the first book of the series, feels like she is a magnet for death and has drawn evil to the town. Is there really something supernatural at work in Kanner Lake?
Vince Edwards is the chief of police and is now stretched to his limit. His five-man force is too small to investigate the multiple murders taking place in his small town. His men are working around the clock to protect citizens, collect evidence, question people and solve multiple murders. He doesn’t know how much more he can take, worrying about who will be next. He also has felt an evil presence that unsettles him to say the least. Who or what is killing these innocent women? Is the killing related to the new hotel project being proposed?
This is an absolutely riveting story. Be warned…once you start, you won’t be able to put the book down. The chapters are only about 3-4 pages, so readers can quickly flip through to keep the action moving and keep up with the quick-paced plot. I enjoyed the continuation of characters from the first book and hope they will show up in book three of the series, Crimson Eve. The suspense is palpable and the tension runs high throughout the book. The realm of darkness in the supernatural world is shown to be a force to be reckoned with and not something make believe. As some of the characters discover, the power of Jesus is stronger than anything. That is something we all need to remember.
My rating is 5 stars.
