"A savannah florist is about to score the wedding of a lifetime--one that will solidify her career as the go-to-girl for society nuptials. Ironically, Cara Kryzik doesn't believe in love, even though she creates beautiful flower arrangements to celebrate them. But when the bride goes missing and the wedding is in jeopardy, Cara must find the bride and figure out what she believes in. Maybe love really does exist outside of fairy tales after all. Told with Mary Kay Andrews' trademark wit and keen eye for detail, mark your calendars for Save the Date!"--… (más)

chick lit, but I liked the setting, the dogs, the character. Just a nice fuzzy warm beach/summer read! not deep, so don't read it if you are expecting mystery or life reflections. Just a sweet book and I liked it! Read fast but with strong character development. I felt like I knew them and wanted to find out what was happening in their lives. ( )

There is quite a bit of detail in this book about being a florist. I enjoyed reading about Cara's struggle with her business. I thought it was pretty accurate as far as the financial difficulties of owning your own business, trying to please the clients, dealing with landlords, employees, and creditors. I would have liked to read about different clients besides just brides. I have never lived in Savannah, so I do not know if some of her southern women were too stereotypical.

I really liked the character of Jack. Cara on the other hand was annoying at times. I was quite a angry with Cara when she did not see that Jack's intentions were genuine, while at the same time she was too trusting of another man in her life. Cara was often rather whiney, self absorbed and full of herself. Yet aren't we all at times. Overall, I liked the story because it kept me interested and it was an easy read. I would even like to see a second book with these characters. ( )

Enjoyed this story a lot as I was reading it so I feel stingey only giving it 3.5 stars. But now 2 weeks ago it seems a little too inconsequential. Yes it was a rom com but with not much com and some more serious issues in how women value their independence/don't want to be told what to do, to the point that they can't see or accept kindness - that was the conundrum that I remember from this tale. Mary Kay Andrews’ “Save the Date” is a breezy rom-com that manages to avoid most of the worst clichés in presenting its tale of the spunky florist-shop owner trying to keep her head above water while beset by a neglectful landlord, a series of Bridezillas and their equally formidable mothers, and a big-city competitor trying to muscle her out of the business.

There is, of course, a hunky hero, who’s a really nice guy even if he is a bit tone-deaf to what the heroine needs (beyond the obligatory bedroom romp). And Andrews doubles down on the cute-dog factor, giving each of her protagonists one. This time, there’s actually a plot-related reason for all floppy-eared characters.

Andrews has, fortunately, abandoned the “he-done-me-wrong-and-we’re-going-to-get-revenge” motif used in many of her earlier books, while keeping her quirky heroine sassy and funny. Fans of Andrews’ breezy romances will find nothing lacking in this one. ( )
