A lively story of the many homes of the Declaration of Independence, which also shines a light on many events in US history. This book has page numbers! I thought this book was very informative. I think this book is a good length and enough words on each page so students won't get bored and get distracted while reading. This book is funny, and the illustrations are honestly the cutest illustrations I've seen so far since I started reading books for this course. They are so colorful, and there are a lot of different things going on in every page when you look at the people they all have different emotions to match the words on that page. A true symbol and inspiration for all that is best about America, the actual Declaration of Independence has been rolled up, moved, hidden, copied and transported by more modes of transportation than anyone might guess since its signing in 1776. In this witty, gritty and factual history, audiences will learn all about the document that has defined American freedom for over two centuries. This book gives a detailed account of the journey of the Declaration of Independence, from 1776 to today. With lively illustrations and text, this book is a great read for elementary students. While many view the Declaration of Independence as just an old document, the author brings this piece of parchment to life. The Declaration survived the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the American Civil War, the smoky State, War, and Navy Building, and years of neglect and disputes. The journey of the Declaration was long, but the author was able to capture it from its beginning to its current home in the National Archives Building. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

In 1776 Thomas Jefferson put his quill to paper and the Declaration of Independence sprang to life. Follow the Declaration's journey over the next two centuries, surviving eight wars and travelling through five states on horseback, boat, railcar, and tank to its current home in the National Archives.
