Described as a role-playing game, but closer to a social/party game, Tribes simulates life in a hunter/gatherer tribe. A minimum of 4, but no more than 8, can play a given game. Characters are divided into Gatherers, Hunters, and Crafters. The goal is to have more adults alive at the end of a session (40 turns, or 20 years) than you start with. Individual players win by having the most living children; but that requires having a strong tribe to provide for them. So, the game is cooperative/competitive.
