This was not one one Roberts' best books, her more recently penned novels are better. The dialogue between the main characters was annoying, with the sergeant being a rude Alpha male. Of course, under the brashness and coldness was a self sacrificing, loving man. The smuggling and antiques kept the love story alive. (

World-weary cop goes undercover to nail a smuggling ring centered round a New England antiques shop. He uses the quiet times to writing his first, soon to be published, novel, and falling for antiques shop owner Jessica.
Good dialogue between the Slade and Jesse kept the interest going until the end. (
