It's original, crazy good, it portraits the human insanity in a crazy way, the art is fantastic and both hero and villain are great characters. The villain is like Joker on Lsd. I really really liked this, I'm so looking forward to read the second volume. ( ) Great artwork, compelling villain, builds a mystery well, holds a lot of tension. There's a bit of romance in here, in a weird way.
I actually would have adored it had the Reece been slower to reciprocate his feelings. She's been taking care of him as an invalid and essentially a pet rock - struggle a bit with possibly infantalizing him, or projecting on him, etc. before falling madly in love with him.
The book focuses a lot on madness and insanity but seems to think the only manifestation of madness is "crazy talk." You know what I mean - the person saying things like, "I have three bees, they sing to me, dog dog, the world is ending, porcupine." Its always extreme like that - its never "I'm worried I might be getting gangstalked." What I'm trying to say is that the book treats all people with mental illness like they are FishMalks. The ending felt very deus ex-machina. This was very cool. I have to admit being drawn to it because of the cover, and the art never let me down. Being from Boston I liked recognizing the architecture, both in our world and in the other world. Maybe especially in the other world. The story was just the right kind of horror for me. I much prefer psychological horror and a story about a creature that drives people insane (or more insane) in order to eat their minds is right up my alley. That creature, Nimble Jack, was well-written, well-drawn, and absolutely terrifying in his movements and his dialogue. I wasn't certain about Declan in the beginning. After all, he didn't do much other than sit there getting colder. His background is still a mystery, one I'm dying to learn. (Provided by publisher) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
