Casey McDaniel had never been so nervous in his life. In just ten minutes, The Meeting, as it would forever be known, would begin. Casey had every reason to believe that his performance over the next two hours would determine the fate of his career, his financial future, and the company he had built from scratch. "How could my life have unraveled so quickly?" he wondered. "In his latest page-turning work of business fiction, best-selling author Patrick Lencioni provides readers with another powerful and thought-provoking book, this one centered around a cure for the most painful yet underestimated problem of modern business: bad meetings. And what he suggests is both simple and revolutionary."

After rereading Lencioni's book on teamwork, I decided to pick up a couple of his other works. This one I found to be not as applicable to my current workplace environment, and so wasn't quite as enjoyable or useful as "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team." ( )

A solid book about meetings, their purpose(s), and how implementing them properly can save time.

Like some of Lencioni's other books, the rules about meetings are first wrapped in a story, and then explained in detail afterwards, making it easier for a reader to get through, as well as to internalize.

While I think the book is directly targeted at upper management, rather than people lower on the totem pole, there's something here for everyone. ( )

Quick easy read about optimization of meetings. The book starts with a short relatable parable about a company having trouble with (surprise surprise) meetings. The story sets up the executive summary well. The four types of meetings the book recommends are the daily checkin, weekly tactical, monthly (or ad hoc) strategic, and quarterly off site review. Each meeting has separate objectives and relate to each other. If you want just the summary of key points, read the executive summary at the end. Not everything will be applicable to everyone, but there are some useful nuggets. ( )

This books offers advice on how to make bad meetings, which the authors deem a "the most painful" problem in modern business. He offers "insightful, pratical, and ready to implement" strategies to make meetings more effective/efficient.

People in management positions who organize meetings and also people whose jobs force them to partake in meetings could benefit from this.
