While I do have several people in mind's that would probably enjoy this book, it wasn't really to my taste. If you enjoy complicated timelines in science fiction books, this might be a good match for you. ( ) Brilliant. Perhaps it is because I am still relatively new to sci-fi, and certainly am new to works about metaphysical transcendent time travel, but this book felt extremely original to me. The writing, especially in the beginning, was vague and confusing. But here's the thing: it was the GOOD kind of vague and confusing. It felt like Armas was purposefully making me ask the right questions, the same ones he was going to hint at answering- later. The philosophy of things, of life and consciousness, were also addressed well. Perhaps my only real complaint is that there was a lack of emotional connection between me and the main character. Perhaps that was the point, however. This book was overwhelming for me. It is very complex and detailed and often confusing for me. The writing itself is excellent. I enjoyed the first person narrative. The main character is an ordinary man from earth who travels through time and space. I found myself getting lost several times in the story. There is so much detail and things happening that you need to allot several hours when you first start and make sure to read it slowly to understand what is happening. Io Decenius builds on a very cool concept; that the universe is conscious and takes form in various avatars. It’s a metaphysical science fiction novel, with clear inspiration from fantasy. The plot is very original, and is about an unemployed man from earth who by way of dreams is projected into a kind of astral plane, where he needs to prevent a galactic disaster. The book is very ambitious, and is certainly not an easy one to get right. I think it’s well written, with some very nice passages. The storyline tends to skip from scene to scene, with a lot of different players and factions as actors. And this is where I was struggling; the structure of the book is very dreamy, and I had a hard time to distinguish between the various characters, factions and beings. The book could have benefited from a list of the different factions at the end of it (the Amazon x-ray feature was not available in my version). I received a free copy of the book for an honest review. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
