I am not sure of the purpose of it except to learn about the dogs in her life and how many she has had over the years (dang!) and we thought she had a lot of children. This was the real Danielle vs the Danielle who writes us so many fiction books. There is no doubt that she loves dogs. The one thing this book made me wonder is if I am ready for a dog. COMMENTS: If you are a pet/dog lover you will enjoy this lovely little book. Can be read very quickly. DS talks about dogs she had as a child, and all the dogs her children have had. Her main focus is her current "pure joy" Minnie -- a 2 lb Chihuahua. Minnie and she live part-time in San Francisco & part-time in Paris. She wanted a dog small enough for the frequent travel and one she could fall in love w/. She made Chihuahua's sound like very endearing dogs -- not as yappy as some other smaller dogs and they also usually have pretty long lives for canines. I can’t resist dogs. And I guess I can’t resist dog lovers either, because when this book by Danielle Steel about her dogs showed up as available on the digital library, I decided to take it for a spin. I’ve never read one of her novels, but hey—dogs.
It was a sweet read, and I was surprised to find out that Danielle Steel has so many kids—nine! And she was married to a mad dog lover who thought each kid should have their own dog. At one point, she had nine kids, eleven dogs, and a potbellied pig. I love finding out weird stuff like this, and it was fun to read about an author I only thought of as some fancy lady who cranks out bestsellers every other month. I was delighted with the funny, down-to-earth descriptions of her life and dogs, especially her chihuahua Minnie, the dog on the book’s cover.
I’m glad I read it. I was in the mood for an animal book, and it was something light to read as my chapter a day nonfiction this month. (
