At first you might mistake Mark Gattison as an arrogant, self-absorbed, overgrown tease...but you would be mistaken, and you would have trouble appreciating how totally awesome he actually is. Mark can actually be described as a "gem in the rough". He’s loyal and kind and funny. He brings levity to even the most intense situations... and he can make anyone and everyone, laugh. Knowing Mark in this way makes this Mark...the Mark in this story, charming and hysterical. Mark, a self-proclaimed "commitmentphobe", was so deserving of someone to love him and in turn, of someone to love. Now we meet Will… a coworker, Mark's best friend, and his "partner in crime". The story was totally captivating by the chemistry between Mark & Will. Their ease with each other, their complete knowledge and understanding of one another, their light banter, and their absolute total commitment. Will, as Mark's sidekick-turned-"object-of-affection", was sweet and steady, even a tiny bit on the boring side...but the two guys balanced each other out perfectly. Though the story didn’t come without some trials, (remember this is Mark and he doesn’t do relationships!), watching him trying to figure it out was…well... painful and sweet at the same time. Poor clueless Mark…got pummeled over the head by love! The cast of characters is rounded out by Carter & Isaac (from the first 2 books) as well as Mark’s looney-but-lovely mother, who you can't help but love! Overall, the story was funny, sweet and fairly light on the "smut" scale, and Michael Pauley did a fantastic job on the narration. I would never ever have expected anything less from N.R. Walker. Sinceramente... mi ha deluso un po'. Non fraintendetemi, la lettura mi è piaciuta ed è riuscita a farmi passare qualche ora rilassante tanto che non mi sento di sconsigliarla... anzi, è molto scorrevole, romantica e divertente al punto giusto, piena di battute e personaggi che strappano un sorriso, è perfetta per passare il tempo e per chi cerca qualcosa di leggero, dolce e spassoso
Anche se è il terzo volume della serie può essere letto da solo, avendo un "nuovo" protagonista, anche se così facendo si perde un po' il background di Mark e soprattutto quello degli sposini, Isaac e Carter, che ritroviamo questa volta in secondo piano, come comparse e aiutanti, due Cupido perfetti per due dork senza speranze come Will e Mark.
Insomma la storia è simpatica e continuo ad apprezzare lo stile di N.R. Walker ma... mi aspettavo di più... mentre i precedenti romanzo erano più "realistici" e affrontavano temi importanti e spinosi con delicatezza e coraggio qui... abbiamo semplicemente una storiella romance e poco più. Se come me avete amato la complessa love story di Isaac e Carter e il loro lottare disperatamente con le unghie e i denti per stare insieme e dimostrare come anche una persona cieca e che ha sofferto può trovare l'amore non potrete non rimanere un pochettino delusi da Will e Mark. I due sono dolcissimi e perfetti insieme ma nel romanzo manca completamente la loro storia, come si sono conosciuti, in che modo Will si è innamorato e perché, cosa prova Mark e cosa lo ha spinto a diventare amico di Will... ci ritroviamo catapultati in una vicenda già in corso e di fronte due migliori amici che sono praticamente una coppia fin dall'inizio anche se entrambi lo negano.
Il libro si limita a Mark che dopo secoli si rende conto di come lui e Will siano perfetti insieme, di come Will sia meraviglioso, come senza di lui la sua vita non abbia senso ecc...la vicenda nella prima parte è tutto un "Will è triste e devo trovare un fidanzato che lo ami, meriti, io devo farmi da parte e bla bla bla" con Mark che nega di avere sentimenti per l'amico e si fa in quattro per accoppiarlo con il primo che passa ma durante i goffi tentativi, invece di essere felice per lui, ogni volta che lo vede serio e in dolce compagnia si incazza e deprime chiedendosi come e perché provi certe cose per il BFF, la natura dei suoi sentimenti ecc 😅 mentre nella seconda parte confessione con un po' di finto dramma da "Ti amo ma non possiamo stare insieme perché tu non mi ami 😭😭" e olè tre secondi dopo tutti felici e innamorati, due ragazzi zuccherosi (tanto da far quasi venire il diabete e rimpiangere il Mark cazzuto e sarcastico dei primi due romanzi) che tirando per le lunghe la fatidica prima volta in quanto entrambi hanno deciso di fare i "purex" della situazione senza un motivo apparente se non quello di mostrare FINALMENTE dietro le quinte il matrimonio tra Isaac e Carter e far disperare il lettore per la lunga attesa.
Una storia non originalissima, che poteva essere gestita meglio e inserire all'interno come i precedenti romanzi qualche tema importante, ma che nonostante tutto riesce a intrattenere facendo quindi il suo lavoro. Consigliata a chi ha amato il personaggio di Mark nei due libri precedenti e per chi vuole un romance scritto bene e senza troppi intrighi da fan fiction di serie Z, un applauso infatti alla scelta di non inserire la vendetta dell'ex violento!!! Mi aspettavo già rapimenti o peggio e invece no per fortuna a dimostrazione di come scrittori più intelligenti come N.R. Walker non debbano per forza ricorrere a cliché ridicoli per tenere alta l'attenzione e meriterebbe già solo 5 stelle per questo ( )

I really really enjoyed this book! Even though Mark and Will don't officially get together until ~90% into the story, I'd have to constantly remind myself that they were just friends because their banter, chemistry, and understanding of each other (apart from Mark's inability to notice Will's feelings for him lol) were all off the charts. Seeing Carter and Isaac's relationship thriving now that they're openly communicating their feelings with each other also gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling in my chest.

When commitment-phobe Mark broke down after thinking he's lost Will forever, MY HEART (must be cardiomyopathy XD). I had all the feels watching them find their way back to each other. Bless Carter and Isaac for being such amazing friends and being there for Mark when he's at his lowest. ( )

I loved being able to read Mark's story. He deserved his HEA as well. He might come across as arrogant, shallow and only focused on himself. However, underneath that brass and loud exterior beats a huge heart that just doesn't know how to get what it wants or needs.

Again this book was a fantastic mix of light and dark. Fun and sorrow. It's truly no wonder this author is such a firm favourite of mine! ( )
