När jag får ”En mörk strimma av ljus” i mina händer tror jag att det är en skildring av kvinnornas situation i ett krigshärjat land. Oj vad fel jag hade. Boken utspelar sig i Damaskus under fredstid men situationen för kvinnorna är inte mycket bättre för det. Det är ett segregerat samhälle där kvinnan är underlydande mannen oavsett position i samhället.
