Ice dogs by Terry Lynn Johnson, an excellent survival dog story for primary and secondary school age levels (and adults who never stopped reading children's/young adult fiction). A great story often includes sentences I can relate to, descriptive words and plays on emotions. Though I have not experienced the same things, I can connect via similar events. I did not like this as much as my GR friends, who all gave it 5 stars. 14-year old Victoria is a musher, following in the footsteps of her deceased father. She is at odds with her mother, and has bonded with her dogs. When she hears there is an opportunity to gain some quality dogs for her team, she heads off to a fellow musher's home, not realizing a blizzard is brewing. Victoria finds a boy named Chris, unconscious and bleeding from a head wound, who has crashed his snowmobile into a tree. They get lost, and have to battle their way back to safety. Her growing relationship with Chris and bond with the dogs is fairly well done, but I did not care for the rest of her relationships. PremiosDistincionesListas de sobresalientes
