This story was a very simple one, though I think that is what defines it as an early reader book. Splat promises to get a seashell for Grandpa but encounters some distractions a long the way! I loved the silly humor in this book and think a young child learning to read would really enjoy reading this book. I believe having the whole series of these books in a classroom would propel a child to want to read all of them! I know I wished I'd had another of them when I was finished reading. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Splat is totally engaging with his adventure at the shore trying to find the perfect shell. The rhyming text calls for a readaloud, whether by a grownup or a child learning to read. The illustrations capture the text, help provide visual cues for new readers, and provide just enough fun extra details to be their own thing. All in all, this is a fun quick read, especially perfect for summer days. ( )
