The overall message of this book is for young readers to understand that being perfect is not easy; however, there are certain ways they act to “try” to be perfect. The overall idea is to teach children manners, but in a fun way! My favorite thing about this book was the tone of the book. This book presented the many “good” ways of behaving when at home, at school, at a party, on the phone, during games, and so forth. However, each point is made with a sense of humor. On page 11, the chapter called “On the Phone”, the pig’s speaking bubble reads, “Of course I have pig’s feet. What do you mean if I wear shoes no one will notice?” The illustrations are very funny and fit very well with the story line. On every page the reader will understand the basic guide of manners because the picture is very detailed, and correlates well with the sentence. Young readers will find this book to be informative as well as entertaining. ( )

I would say this is a grade book for a kindergarten or 1st grade level. This book is centered around manners and when and how to use them. I really liked this book because I think that using manners is important topic that should be taught at a young age.
The author provides examples of using manners in 12 situations: Using manners at all times, around the house, with your family, on the telephone, with pets, giving a party, going to a party, with friends, at school, during games, in public places and during meals. Every manner written had a picture to elaborate on the manner that was being addressed. When talking about using manners "at all times", the pig on page 3 who was holding too many things was shown saying "please" in the picture to get some help. The manner that used was saying please.
The characters and the scenarios that the characters were placed in to use their manners were very believable. The authors writing organization of each scenario and the correct response that went with the scenario, made understanding the different manners believable and relatable. When one of the pigs answered the phone and the caller needed to speak to someone else, the pig responded with, "Just a minute, please let me get her". The authors response is clear and matches up with the illustrators drawing of the scenario thus giving the reader a clear understanding of the manner and how to use it.
The main point in the story is that there are always manners to be used, no matter what the situation is. It doesn't matter if you are at a party or in your house, it's always best to use your manners. I think the main point of the story is wonderful because developing good manners sends a very positive message to readers. ( )

Different scenarios include; all the time manners, with your family, on the telephone, during meals, etc. Great for Pre-k and kindergarten students.
