The series Texas K-9 Unit begins with Tracking Justice, followed by Detection Mission and then Guard Duty. Explosive Secrets continues the mystery introduced in book one with romance, faith and facing danger. Each novel centralizes on one main character in the K-9 unit along with whatever situations the team of handler and trained canines are called in to solve or assist.
In the fourth installment, readers meet a police officer and his dog who also served as a team when deployed to Afghanistan. The dog still suffers from some of the traumatic experiences while serving but as long as this brave canine is able to point where bombs are, he remains a part of the unit.
So when Nicki gets targeted by a criminal syndicate operating in Sagebrush, the police suspect she knows her dying cousin’s confession. No matter where Nicki goes trouble and danger seem to be close by and therefore the captain assigns Jackson and his bomb sniffing dog as her protection. Many in the unit don’t believe that Nicki knows nothing as she claims, but Jackson and his uncle do.
I hope these small tantalizing tidbits intrigue you enough to read and enjoy the series. They are exceptionally written stories. They contain adventure, danger, romance, faith and so much more. With each book, readers come a little bit closer to identifying the man at the head of the syndicate known as “The Boss”. Two more stories and I bet it will be an awesome ending to the whole K-9 novel unit series! Get the books and be prepared to get lost in the enjoyable tales!

This is one book out of a series about the Texas K-9 unit. The books are by different authors but involve some of the same characters. So this is a book that can be read as a stand alone or with the others in the series. However you do it, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the adventure.

Nicki Johnson is a woman in her thirties who has just gone through a shocking break up that has left her with no money and a pregnancy. Yet, she is determined to work hard and set things right. A break in and many following attacks causes her world to not only turn upside down, but inside out.

Lucky for Nicki, the handsome lawman Jackson Worth is assigned to keep her safe, and he comes with a bomb sniffing dog that wins over Nicki’s heart immediately. Jackson is a man of honor, and one not looking for a relationship, but for answers to what is behind all of the trouble that seems to follow Nicki.

The struggle for trust and truth come into play with these two characters throughout, as the mystery unfolds. From one suspenseful turn to another, their attraction and respect grow stronger for each other, yet they keep denying it. As a new Christian, Nicki is taking this whole fiasco one step at a time on faith and in prayer.

This is a page turner that keeps the reader trying to figure out who is doing it and why. What is going on? Who is telling the truth? Is the bad guy someone right there in the open that they should notice right away? And the romance is sweet. It’s not a fast and harried romance, but one born out of respect and honor.

I enjoyed reading Explosive Secrets. It’s full of one unexpected tragedy after another that keeps the story moving full speed ahead. Valerie shows how God can bring blessings even in times of trial. He is faithful and brings good out of the bad.
