We are now well vested in these lonely men and here comes Beckman who’s a fourth hero of Grace Burrowes’ Lonely Lords series. Beckman is another widower with personal issues and secrets. As in previous books from this series, both characters are plenty flawed and are dealing with a lot of emotional baggage that needs to be resolved before they can let go and love each other fully. I should mention another thing I appreciate from this author and that’s her writing of family relationships, be it brothers and sisters, Aunts, cousins, fathers and sons, or even children in her books. She literally breathes life into them all that ‘feel’s real and potent. It’s like they’re right there in my room. When I read Grace Burrowes books, I ‘hear’ a totally different ‘voice’ in my head than any other voice before. Please pay close attention to two secondary characters in this book, Gabriel and Polly, who are a sister and a steward of the heroine, Sara and will have a book of their own. Again, highly recommending it, but if you’re new to her, here are some books you may want to start off before you read the Lonely Lords. Melanie for b2b Complimentary copy from the publisher BECKMAN: LORD OF SINS by Grace Burrowes is a delightful Regency Historical Romance . Book 3 in the "Lonely Lords" series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, "Darius", and "Nicholas". A riveting love story from beginning to end. Fast paced with passion, secets, and love. I love this author's stories and the "Lonely Lords" series shows her talent as a storyteller. "Beckman: Lord of Sins" is story of grief, pass affairs, guilt and the power of love. Well written with intriguing and engaging characters. I can hardly wait to learn of Gabriel's secrets,as a secondary character in this story, he is bound to have his own story soon. Historical romance readers are sure to enjoy "Beckman", with his past sins and his future coming together, you do not want to miss this story. A must read! Received for an honest review the publisher and Net Galley. RATING: 4.5 HEAT RATING: MILD REVIEWED BY: AprilR, Review courtesy of My Book Addiction and More another Burrowes winner! Beckman Haddonfield, Earl of Bellefonte, is to put an estate of his grandmother's to rights. His farewell to his dying father is a poignant moment that brought forth if not a tear, a deep heartfelt sigh. He is a man with a past, and a future to be determined. A curious menagerie of persons inhabit his grandmother's property, Three Springs. There's Sara, Polly and Allie. All artistic, with Allie seemingly a child prodigy. (Burrowes makes some interesting comments on child prodigies in these times in her notes.) Then there's the mysterious Gabriel North who reads French and dresses in the best labels, even if they are all well worn. As Beck labours alongside this complex group of people he's found, all with dark secrets, but somehow becoming almost a family, he reflects on his companions, 'Here...he was not amongst strangers. He was with the same people day and night, he was becoming familiar with them...He was, in short, growing attached.' Beck's soliloquies are rather wonderful, thoughtful, and show a character of depth and feeling. I am falling in love with his gentleness of spirit. He wanted what tormented North solved 'because it plagued North's soul.' Just a wonderful reading moment that stopped me in my tracks as I contemplated this increasingly sensitive character that Burrowes has created. It does seem to me that as Burrowes writes this series, each story is amplified by and draws strength from the previous book. Her main characters portray more fully developed personas, from Darius whom I didn't much like, to now Beckman, who is far more thoughtfully rounded. Scarred from his past he is a quietly compelling character. He is very much a considerate listening soul. He is the Prodigal returned, and renewed. Ah Yes! the story is at once complicated, simple and I loved it! A NetGalley ARC sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
