( ) This definitely made me remember so many books from my childhood, and I was surprised by how many Golden Books were written and/or illustrated by authors of many other classic children's books. Margaret Wise Brown, Richard Scarry and Edith Thatcher Hurd are a few I hadn't known about. It's a fun book for adults to flip through and comment on. It would be interesting to share with a favorite child and to discuss the ilustrations and memories they bring back with her. A very sweet book. The premise is that the author is a longtime editorial director at Golden Books who thought that many of the readers of the Little Golden Books "probably learned pretty much everything that really matters about life from what we read between those sturdy, gilt-bound cardboard covers." And maybe she's right. Each page has a large illustration from one of the original books to accompany the text, and it was a walk down memory lane (uh oh, I'm getting corny here). I loved these books as a kid, and enjoyed seeing some of my favorites: The Gingerbread Man, Daddies, The Saggy Baggy Elephant, Chicken Little, The Poky Little Puppy, We Help Mommy, and more. The book recalls a simpler time, yet is absolutely relevant today. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
A whimsical guide to life for adult fans of classic Little Golden Books combines lighthearted advice with nostalgic illustrations that convey such nuggets of wisdom as "Don't forget to enjoy your wedding!," "Be a hugger," and "Sweatpants are bad for morale."
