What I thought was going to be a book mainly about cookies and others eating cookies, this book was actually different. The story starts out by saying, “One hand in the cookie jar takes a cookie out.” and then, “How many hands put the cookie in is what the worlds all about.” I really liked how George turned it around and made this book about all the hard work people put in to make cookies that everyone enjoys to eat. I really enjoyed reading about all the steps it takes to make a cookie! I enjoyed this book mainly for the rhyming scheme. As I was reading this book, I was singing it in my head! It shows that it takes various people and techniques to make a wonderful treat, cookies! When we work together we can make something just as delightful! I absolutely love the second to last page showing diversity in all forms through the illustration and lets not talk about the recipe on the last page. I enjoyed reading this book. One of the reasons I liked this book was for its descriptive language. For example, the author was explained in the most detail what makes up a cookie. The author also uses this descriptive language to explain how different cultures create food in different ways. Another reason I enjoyed this book was for its illustrations. The illustrations were big and bold which made them stand out on the page. They also were great visual aids and showed how every person in every culture is involved with cooking. The main message of this book is that good things come in small packages, people work extremely hard to produce one cookie. Another message is that people of all different cultures all over the world all have something in common and they can come together. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"It's easy to take a cookie out of the cookie jar: just reach in. But how does it get in there in the first place? It's more complicated than you might think. Someone has to milk the cow, grow the wheat, harvest the sugar cane--everyone has a special job to do to make that cookie possible."--Provided by publisher.
