After a life of wrong turns and lost hope, can true love be more than a bittersweet fantasy? Melinda Andrews arrives on the Oregon coast with a dream of running the Sea Glass Inn. Still reeling after an unexpected divorce, Mel believes she has missed her chance to find love. All she wants is to make her business a success and regain her independence. She locates the artist who inspired her move so she can commission more paintings for her new inn. Pamela Whitford runs a gallery in a small seaside town, planning events and supporting other artists while neglecting her own talent. Since being deserted by the love she thought was forever, she refuses to let anyone close enough to hurt her again. But Pam can't resist the struggling new innkeeper, and she agrees to paint for her even though it means opening herself up to creativity and the vulnerability that goes with it. Can they learn to trust again and discover a second chance at love?… (más)

I would rate it 3.5 but I didn't like it enough to roll it up to 4. I started out enjoying it very much. I liked the writing style and the flawed characters but just past mid-way, it just felt like my interest was slipping away.

I'm not sure if it was my irritation with Pam or my growing bad mood but I found myself not wanting to read more of her introspection. I truly felt bad for what had happened in her previous relationship - my heart broke for her - but there was just something going on with me or the book that wouldn't allow me to continue to feel bad after she realized what was happening between her and Mel.

That being said, I would recommend Sea Glass Inn to anyone looking for a romance with a high angst rating. ( )

This book was so sweet.

It's the story of Pam and Mel. Pam is a gallery owner as well as being an artist. But because of parts of her past she's not feeling very inspired when the book starts.

Mel is newly divorced and she stops in Pam's gallery. She sees one of Pam's mixed media painting/sea glass piece, and it totally changes her life. She buys a very, very old former Inn and rechristens it the Sea Glass Inn. She also manages to get Pam to agree to paint what winds up being six more paintings on commission for the inn.

At first Pam has such trouble even coming up with an idea, and then starting is scary too. But it was interesting to see the give and take between Mel and Pam and how it sometimes helps Pam towards her reuniting with her muse, and sometimes it sorta hinders that journey.

Mel also has problems. She's just bought a super old and very worn down Inn and as a scene near the beginning shows very well she doesn't know a lot about renovation.

I really liked the characters, both the main characters as well as the secondary ones too, like Tia, and even Walter (although his was a very small part). Also, Piper the dog was so darn cute, and Danny, Mel's son I thought was one of the best characters on the page.

It was a fun read, and even though it wasn't a long book I always felt like the story was a whole story not too long or too short. ( )
