2nd read- I'm not sure how this would stand alone if I hadn't read the rest of the series, we learn a bit of the backstory on each couple and get some quality time with all of them, but there's only so much scene setting you can do and still cover new events with so many couples. I *have* read the previous books though, and I think the characters really shine and their storylines are woven together quite nicely. I love how it handles Ian's autism, he and Beth are so sweet together. (
